Job Summary
The Senior Commercial Manager – Data Analytics is responsible for commercial management oversight across Equinix’s portfolio of major expansion construction projects throughout the region. They provide strategic and day‑to‑day leadership focused on driving down construction costs, assuring internal financial controls and reporting processes, and managing all major contract risks. The role also includes supporting the modernization of our data analytics capabilities and driving our AI transformation, transforming fragmented data and reporting into secure, automated, and insight‑driven analytics platforms.
Responsibilities
Provides strategic oversight for the planning and monitoring of construction projects from start to completion
Monitors the financial close‑out on all projects, including settlement of all vendors
Reports status, successes, challenges and key activities to senior management
Develops, manages and is accountable for achievement of key commercial metrics
Drives continuous improvement initiatives and develops best practices
Ensures correct level of professional cost management resources are identified, engaged and managed on all regional construction projects
Provides cost management advice and support
Oversees guidance on commercial change management and change evaluation efforts on all projects
Support modernization of analytics platforms through automation and standardization
Support adoption of advanced analytics, intelligent automation, and self‑service reporting to improve efficiency and insight quality
Help shape analytics architecture principles that balance scalability, performance, and usability
Oversees the preparation of budgets (including detailed cost modeling and benchmarking analysis) and presents to senior management
Monitors adherence against budget throughout the project lifespan, including cost checks and reviews, value engineering, cost‑saving initiatives and evaluation of alternates
Provides data analytics for project portfolio cash flow and earned value analysis utilizing Power BI
Reviews project cost reports and performs regular reviews with senior management
Acts as a stage‑gate approver of budgets prior to executive approval
Oversees adherence to company expenditure limits
Provides guidance and assists with the orderly development of requests for proposal leading into procurement for design services agreements, owner‑furnished equipment and general contractor services agreements
Guides the overall contracting strategy and signs off on construction contracts
Guides contract policy and ensures audit compliance
Advise and intervene appropriately to resolve major contractual claims and disputes as they arise
Sets out risk management policy and auditing compliance
Pro‑actively leads all commercial risk management efforts including commercial audits, contingency analyses, risk identification and training
Drives global coordination when developing strategies with corporate development, legal and company management while also managing internal key stakeholders
Manages a team of Commercial Managers and works closely with other internal project teams of varying levels of seniority
Leads the regional Commercial Management team to perform as industry‑leading function
Trains and develops in‑house teams on commercial controls and best practices
Trains and develops teams on the creation of Power Apps and AI agents to help commercially manage the GDC portfolio
Qualifications
Typically 7+ years of professional experience ideally in data center or mission‑critical system design, construction and costing.
Demonstrated data analytics experience, ideally with Power BI and SQL queries.
Experience creating Power Apps and automating workflows.
Bachelor’s degree in construction, business, finance or related field preferred.
RICS (Royal Institute Chartered Surveyor) accreditation preferred.
Pay Range
United States – Dallas Infomart Office DAI: $136,000 – $204,000 USD / Annual
United States – Redwood City Office GHQ: $163,000 – $245,000 USD / Annual
United States – Chicago CH1: $150,000 – $224,000 USD / Annual
United States – New York City Office NYO1: $150,000 – $224,000 USD / Annual
United States – Ashburn Office AEO: $150,000 – $224,000 USD / Annual
Targeted pay range reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees may be eligible for bonus and equity may be offered depending on the position.
