Overview
The Division of Games at the University of Utah invites applications for a non‑tenure‑track career‑line Assistant Professor (Lecturer) in Games to begin Fall 2026. We seek applicants with expertise in at least one area of game engineering, such as gameplay programming, engine architecture, real‑time rendering, or artificial intelligence. Candidates with expertise in related areas are also welcome.

Responsibilities
Successful candidates will teach in‑person courses across the B.S. in Games and the Master’s of Entertainment Arts & Engineering (MEAE) curriculum at the Salt Lake City Campus. They will also contribute to university and professional service, including collaborative work to expand the curriculum, outreach to industry and government partners, and recruitment efforts.

Qualifications

Terminal degree in a games‑related field with a focus on game engineering (e.g., Ph.D. in Computer Science, Informatics, or the MEAE engineering track).

Broad knowledge of the practical aspects of game development.

Ability to identify expertise in at least one area of game engineering, provide evidence of contribution to creative works in interdisciplinary teams, and demonstrate commitment to teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.

Preferred Qualifications

Recent industry experience in the games industry or related fields.
