Role: FOX 5 San Diego/KUSI News Border Reporter
Duopoly is seeking a dynamic, enterprising Border Reporter based in San Diego to produce compelling, daily stories focusing on issues impacting the Southern border with Mexico. The reporter will deliver high‑impact stories tailored to San Diego audiences across broadcast, streaming, website, and social media platforms. The candidate must be digitally savvy, excel in storytelling that connects with audiences, shoot, write, edit and produce video packages, and have the ability to produce, host, and pilot original streaming shows for our CTV app.
Responsibilities
Produce daily, original San Diego‑focused content for multiplatform viewing.
Develop and deliver stories on border‑related topics beyond headlines, focusing on context, impact, and solutions for the local community.
Produce and host a weekly border‑related show for the station’s CTV streaming app.
Contribute daily to digital platforms, including submitting original articles for the station website and producing vertical content for mobile users.
Craft stories for different screens to engage audiences across all platforms.
Maintain an active presence on social media to promote stories, engage audiences, and generate story ideas.
Build and maintain strong sources on both sides of the border to support exclusive and enterprise reporting.
Shoot, write, and edit stories ensuring accuracy, clarity, and strong storytelling.
Collaborate with the assignment desk, producer, and photographer on live shots.
Ad‑lib and interact effectively with anchors and guests.
Ensure all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
Attend station partnerships and community events.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
B.A. or B.S. Degree preferably in journalism, communication or equivalent related experience.
Prefer 5+ years TV news reporting in a medium to large market.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred (fluent speaking and reading, proficient in Spanish writing).

Ability to carry 25‑30 pounds of equipment.
Flexible with schedule and willing to work additional hours, days, or shifts, including holidays, as required by news content.
Strong attention to detail.
Accept constructive direction and feedback.
Compensation starting at $35+ per hour, commensurate with experience and skill level.
