Job Description
The nature of the work is focused on the appearance of product, communications, or collateral materials. Product Design - With direction from Design and Category management, uses advanced design skills to create original, innovative concepts and designs that appropriately reflect Nike's design philosophy & standards. Advances design image, product performance, and inspires targeted consumers. Contributes to seasonal creative strategy for products and line segments.
Design Execution - proactively follows the execution of all product details including: construction detail, color, form, style, detail, fit performance, graphic application, trim, etc. Reviews samples and clearly communicates changes to ensure timely completion of each project. Leverages excellent knowledge and practice in all phases of product execution; shares knowledge and advancements with others.
Process/Timeline - Works with design leadership and Category team members in Design, Development, and Product Management to ensure feasibility of designs, meeting price points, merchandising needs, and product creation timelines.
Communication - Communicates and presents design concepts to various internal and external audiences with support of Expert Designer. Produces presentation materials in conjunction with the Design and Category teams that effectively communicate the concept behind the line for internal and external audiences.
Skill/Knowledge Development - Proactively works with Design management and Expert Designers to advance and build personal portfolio of design and Expert Designers to advance and build personal portfolio of design skills, experiences, and product/process knowledge. Provides design support for design team as needed outside of assigned product load.
Additional Notes/Qualifications
5+ years’ minimum experience preferred in a product design role (in relation to apparel)
Top must-have skills include the following
Adobe Illustrator expertise
Familiarity with sewing/construction and fabric knowledge
Tech pack creation experience
Other skills that would make a candidate stand out
Experience with women’s wear specifically (style, streetwear)
Photoshop
CLO
Experience with styling
