Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Architecture Designer to join our Los Angeles Architecture studio. This is a pivotal role to work on one of the most exciting, large and complex local projects: the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games and Team USA. The role requires the candidate to be in person 3–4 days a week at the DTLA AECOM studio and/or the LA28 office.
We are the Official Venue Infrastructure Partner for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games and Team USA. With an unprecedented scope spanning infrastructure architecture, engineering, planning, program management, and construction management, AECOM supports the comprehensive delivery of the venue infrastructure program for the Games.
Beyond LA28, we’ve been trusted to move the city’s infrastructure forward across the energy transition, water security, mobility, sports, education, public safety, climate adaptation and carbon reduction.
The successful candidate will understand the value of leveraging the design platform that AECOM offers, which is access and collaboration with industry‑leading designers and technical experts in nearly every design and engineering field. The current and near‑term projects that this position would support will be transformational to the communities in which they exist.
Internally, this position will provide the opportunity to serve as an integral part of a planning and design practice that includes planners, landscape architects, architects, interior designers, engineers, and business development professionals.
About Our Practice
US West Buildings + Places has a vast market spread and geography, providing opportunities across a wide range of project typologies, including Science & Technology, Advanced Manufacturing, Commercial, Aerospace, Higher Education, Industrial and Process, Transportation, Aviation, Sports and Federal market sectors across the western United States and beyond.
Responsibilities
Perform basic architectural/engineering calculations.
Prepare specifications, reports, and related data tables.
Maintain liaison with design and drafting groups.
Prepare, review, and approve drawings as required.
Under the direction of the Supervising Architect, independently perform advanced technical assignments of various complexities within approved schedules and budgets.
Coordinate technical and administrative activities with employees in other disciplines and other departments participating on an assigned project.
Assist in the training and evaluation of assigned architectural and design/drafting personnel.
Candidate Requirements
The candidate must have proficiency in Autodesk Revit to be successful in this role.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor of Architecture degree plus 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Architecture.
Licensure (RA).
6 years of experience as an Architect or Architectural Designer on a variety of building types.
Ability to become a licensed architect in the future.
Experience with Adobe Suite, Autodesk Revit, Enscape, Rhino and SketchUp.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
