We are currently seeking an Account Director to support the Client Services team in meeting their objectives and delivering the highest quality client experience. The Account Director is a solution‑oriented strategist, client counsellor, team leader, content director, problem solver and growth driver who mobilises an efficient internal team to deliver work with business impact while maintaining exceptional client relationships.

Responsibilities
Account Strategy
Responsible for the profitability, growth and direction of the client(s) business, including acting as the main point of contact for client matters such as approach, strategy, issues, budget and new opportunities.
Proactively plan long‑term for clients while leading day‑to‑day operations and nurturing current client(s) through a strong, trustworthy relationship that upholds Client Services standards.
Lead and execute all strategic planning activities associated with client programs, contributing to ideation, developing strategic plans, and drawing out the best thinking of clients.
Guide the team toward the achievement of client objectives by building cooperation, eliminating rework, diagnosing situations, and providing accurate workable solutions; act as the point of escalation for client requests.
Provide client with strategic insight by staying abreast of industry trends, working with analytics to evaluate programs and campaigns, spotting gaps and reallocating resources to maximise ROI.
Adhere to finance requirements, including invoicing, drafting MSAs, SOW compliance, revenue forecasting, budgeting and vendor management.
Establish and grow strong relationships with internal and external agency partners.
Growth + Business Development
Actively participate in business development, identifying and maximizing organic growth opportunities within existing clients.
Work closely with the team to optimise revenue opportunities within clients.
Maintain relationships with partners to position SJR for content‑ and creative‑related briefs.
Participate in pitch development and presentations as required.
Creative + Editorial
Lead end‑to‑end quality control and flawless execution of creative and editorial production through best practices.
Present creative concepts to client with the aim of converting concepts into sales.
Provide strategic feedback on creative concepts and content topics to the team.
Ensure production is managed efficiently, budgets are respected and client expectations are met throughout pre‑production, on‑location and post‑production.
Staff Mentorship
Act as a positive role model and mentor the team, maximizing individual growth and harnessing strengths and opportunities.
Work closely with the Managing Director of Client Services to delegate appropriate work for team members.
Contribute to performance reviews and share critical feedback to improve processes.
Qualifications
Minimum five years of account management experience; agency setting preferred.
Strong understanding of content strategy and implementation across diverse platforms and channels.
Proven track record of developing strong client relationships and approaching business with confidence.
Ability to mine insights that inform creative strategies and content programs.
Strong growth mindset with a capacity to deliver above the initial ask.
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills to sell concepts and strategy.
Effective communication and leadership abilities with the capacity to mentor and nurture the team.
Commitment to continuous improvement and demonstrated drive to iterate based on feedback.
Exceptionally personable and positive.

Experience in a journalistic or publishing environment, bringing a strong understanding of storytelling and content creation.

The base salary range for this position at the time of this posting is $110,000 – $165,000 USD. Compensation varies based on location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience and qualifications. We offer a competitive benefits package.
