Guardian Rail, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, is proud to operate one of the country's leading freight rail services and transportation companies with a large network of freight and tank car repair facilities, a nationwide network of running repair agents, and a rail services division that operates short line railroads and contract switching and transloading sites.
We currently have an opportunity for a Vice President of Sales for our Repair Facilities business, who will be based in Chicago or Houston and report directly to the Chief Commercial Officer with responsibility for meeting or exceeding established revenue and margin goals for our tank car repair business.
Duties and Responsibilities Own and lead the sales strategy for our tank car segment and customer accounts
Help align commercial strategy with facility capacity and margin targets
Translate revenue and growth objectives into executable sales plans and quotas
Works to foster lasting relationships to retain existing customers
Increase and improve industry awareness and reputation through active direct engagement and trade event participation
Participate in complex commercial negotiations covering pricing and volume
Complete accurate sales activity and pipeline health reports
Present information regarding clients and sales at company meetings
Devise new and innovative ways to market products and services
Assists in designing marketing and promotional materials both in print and online.
Conducts independent research into target customer base.
Contribute to relevant social media content to support and increase visibility of brand
Engage actively with operations to support service levels and drive execution
Provide relevant market intelligence, competitive insights and feedback to commercial and leadership team
Qualifications Bachelors Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
5-10 years sales leadership experience in tank car industry
Experience managing large, complex customer relationships and accounts
Highly organized, commercial sharp, execution focused leadership style
Data driven mindset with strong commercial and financial acumen
Ability to interact and influence at c-suite levels
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Forecast accuracy and pipeline predictability
Candidates must be based in the greater Chicago or Houston area
