Aquent is partnering with a leading global apparel retailer to identify an experienced design leader for a 6-month contract opportunity based onsite in New York.
This role will lead the men's design team, guide seasonal product direction, and collaborate across Merchandising, Production, Graphics, and Product Development to create compelling, commercially successful product assortments. The ideal candidate brings a strong balance of creative leadership, business acumen, and apparel expertise.
What You'll Do Lead overall design direction for the men's business
Manage and develop a team of designers
Build seasonal product strategies and assortments
Partner with Merchandising to identify opportunities and customer needs
Collaborate with Production and Product Development to ensure execution
Guide products from concept through commercialization
Balance design vision with quality, cost, and margin objectives
Present and influence stakeholders across the organization
What You'll Bring 10+ years of apparel design experience
Significant experience designing men's apparel
Experience leading and developing design teams
Strong understanding of product development processes
Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders
Strong presentation and communication skills
Commercial mindset and customer focus
Experience balancing creative and business objectives
Nice to Have Experience at large retail or specialty apparel brands
Multi-category assortment experience
Global brand experience
Experience leading through seasonal product calendars
Experience managing multiple stakeholders at senior levels
