About the Role:
Rizzoli Bookstore is seeking a dynamic, creative, and highly organized Publicity, Promotion & Events Assistant Manager to help develop and manage our vibrant cultural programming.
This role is ideal for someone with a passion for books, publishing, art, architecture, design, fashion, music, and community engagement. The successful candidate will support the planning and execution of a high-profile calendar of author events, cultural programs, promotional campaigns, and strategic partnerships while helping drive customer engagement and revenue.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and execute a wide range of in-store cultural events, including author talks, book launches, panel discussions, performances, and concerts.
- Coordinate event promotion through the bookstore website, newsletters, social media, blog content, and marketing materials.
- Maintain an active presence on the sales floor, engaging with customers and demonstrating strong knowledge of the bookstore's inventory.
- Develop relationships with publishers, publicists, cultural institutions, community organizations, and corporate partners.
- Generate revenue through ticketed events, sponsored programming, venue rentals, advertising opportunities, and strategic partnerships.
- Coordinate the creation and installation of window displays, working with publishers, designers, and guest curators.
- Identify new promotional and sponsorship opportunities.
- Coordinate occasional off-site events and festival participation.
- Assist with publicity, press outreach, and promotional campaigns.
Qualifications
- Experience in event planning, publicity, marketing, communications, or promotions (publishing or cultural programming experience preferred).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Outstanding organizational and project management abilities.
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Experience with social media platforms and digital marketing.
- Interest in literature, publishing, visual arts, architecture, design, and culture.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
