Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES: Employees at this level support programming initiatives related to identity, culture, retention, and concerns of the students and student identities affiliated with the Multicultural Center. The Assistant Director supports student leadership and development through program and event planning, conflict resolution, budget coordination, and services that enhance the identity, culture, and retention of students connected to WIU’s Multicultural Center. This position plays an integral role in advancing the Center’s mission by managing daily operations, overseeing space reservations, assisting with marketing and communications, and aiding in the supervision of student staff.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Women’s Studies, Ethnic Studies, Latin American Studies, Gender Studies, African American Studies, Sociology, Education, Social Work, or any related field.

A minimum of one (1) year of experience in college student programming and/or student development with an emphasis on working with diverse and historically underrepresented populations. A Master’s degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.

In order to be considered for employment, the degree must be conferred at the time of application, unless the applicant is in the final semester of a degree program; if so, the degree must be conferred at the time of appointment. For the degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree‑granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body).
