Account Director (Client Services)

Salary Range: $130,000.00 to $150,000.00 annually
PRI Healthcare Solutions is seeking an experienced Account Director to lead client services for our pharmaceutical and medical communications clients. This role is a client‑centric leadership position that requires strategic account management, medical education/communication planning, and team leadership.
Job Overview
The Account Director partners with clients to develop and execute medical education and communication plans from concept to implementation, maintains expertise across multiple therapeutic areas, and leads a client‑services team. Responsibilities include strategic interactions with clients, managing and mentoring staff, ensuring high‑quality delivery, and supporting business growth through proactive account management.
Specific Responsibilities
Maintain knowledge of brand, category, strategy, and marketing for assigned client teams/brands.
Serve as consultative and strategic partner, directing the development of projects and programs for assigned accounts.
Act as primary contact for client concerns, issues, and resolution of client and company matters.
Identify, validate, pitch, and close new business within existing accounts.
Stay current on industry and category developments and provide guidance on business‑impacting issues.
Build and maintain positive client relationships focused on strategic objectives.
Oversee account management of all projects, providing knowledge to assist in issue escalation and resolution.
Provide team leadership and set a positive example for the department; mentor and train staff to foster a positive culture.
Model effective collaboration with internal and external partners (internal teams and brand).
Guide junior staff on new business opportunities and next steps; build confidence to exceed client expectations.
Execute public speaking and written communications in a professional manner.
Manage financial aspects, including budget tracking and reconciliation.
Report account and project status regularly to management, project teams, and clients via WorkFront workflow.
Contribute to internal training initiatives as requested by senior management.
Engage actively in program management during peak periods.
Assume additional duties and responsibilities that naturally align with the position and add value.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
6–8 years of medical education/communications experience, preferably in an agency setting.
Strong account management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience in managing and leading client business with a history of supporting direct reports.
Strategic acumen and consultative client‑management experience.
Ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with internal and external teams.
Sound judgment and logical decision‑making skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
25% domestic travel.
Knowledge of and adherence to internal processes and industry guidelines (PhRMA, ACCME, OIG, HCC).
Experience working with pharmaceutical clients is required.
Management experience is strongly preferred.
