Description As an essential member of the high‑performing Communications team, the Sr Social Media Specialist has primary responsibility for managing Freeport‑McMoRan’s corporate digital channels. This includes the development and writing of creative, data‑driven, branded content that builds trust with key stakeholders and affinity with target online/social audiences.
Responsibilities Implement strategy for Freeport‑McMoRan’s corporate digital ecosystem.
Create, write & oversee the curation of organic and paid content.
Oversee and enhance corporate digital storytelling, reputation management and amplification strategy.
Provide counsel and direction on corporate digital strategy (editorial content calendar, creative branded content mix, use of analytics/data).
Create multiple reports, including detailed and executive reports.
Actively engage in the monitoring and administration of the social media platforms, including development of listening, reporting and engagement activities.
Analyze key performance indicators to provide communications insights, informing the Communications team of trends and best practices.
Support the Corporate Communications team on corporate‑wide initiatives; execute a variety of media, including face‑to‑face meetings, intranet, widely dispersed emails, video, newsletters, etc.
Perform other duties as requested.
Work in a fast‑paced environment with frequent conflicting priorities.
Interact with all levels of the organization, vendors and customers.
Work under minimal supervision and exercise latitude to prioritize daily work.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Mass Communications, English or similar field and seven (7) years of experience in Corporate Communications or Mass Communications with an emphasis on social media or related experience; OR Master’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Mass Communications, English or similar field and five (5) years of experience in Digital Content or Mass Communications with an emphasis on social media or related experience.
Extensive experience in the use of social media platforms and tools, social media writing, editing and monitoring.
Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Graphic design and production.
Excellent command of grammar and knowledge of AP writing style.
Thorough understanding of writing strategies and tactics.
Strong social media writing skills.
Strong editing and verbal communications skills.
High level of professional integrity and discretion.
Skilled at collaborating within and outside of department.
Ability to turn long‑form writing into concise social media content consistent with the company’s voice and tone.
Strong work ethic and ability to work at a fast pace, while maintaining high accuracy and quick turnaround time on assigned projects.
Ability to work with sensitive information and oversee high‑visibility projects and processes.
Ability to work effectively in an environment subject to changing priorities and short deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications Experience in a multi‑location organization with multi‑national/global communications and mining, natural resources or similar industry.
Excellent social media, video, photography skills.
Bilingual.
Criteria / Conditions Location requires mobility in an office environment; each floor is accessible by elevator. Occasionally work will be performed in a mine, outdoor or manufacturing plant setting.
Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 10 pounds.
Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment.
Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel‑toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.

Location Global headquarters: Phoenix, Arizona. Hybrid remote across the United States (excluding California, Connecticut, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and South Carolina; additional states may be excluded based on business factors). Occasional on-site attendance at the Collaboration Hub in Phoenix or other site locations is required.
