Role Overview
Commercial Sales & Service – Relationship Manager for BMO’s Emerging Middle Market segment ($10MM–$50MM revenue). The role focuses on business development, managing key client relationships, and delivering high‑value, complex financing solutions.
Responsibilities
Facilitate bank growth through business development and management of key client relationships.
Maintain a record of significant revenue generation from sales and syndications.
Act as escalation point for complex client issues, using strategic problem‑solving to resolve conflicts.
Lead structuring of high‑value, complex deals and credit approvals, ensuring alignment with client needs.
Oversee credit approvals and drive pricing coordination as the primary client advocate.
Drive negotiations for high‑value, complex transactions, ensuring deals meet client and bank objectives.
Manage high‑value client portfolios, driving cross‑selling, retention, and profitability.
Implement cross‑selling initiatives, turning opportunities into revenue‑generating sales.
Lead market coverage strategies to expand portfolios, identify opportunities, and align with business goals.
Represent the bank at industry forums and conferences, providing insights on trends and competition.
Engage with senior leadership and cross‑functional teams to align strategies and address client needs.
Deliver performance, client satisfaction, market trend, and strategic initiative reports to leadership.
Drive strategic advisory on loan products, options, rates, terms, and collateral requirements.
Build and maintain strong long‑term relationships with high‑value and strategic clients.
Structure deals, secure credit approvals, negotiate high‑value transactions, and identify cross‑selling opportunities.
Analyze market trends and competitive positioning to inform client solution strategies.
Collaborate with internal teams to define products, solutions, and strategies that fit clients’ needs.
Identify share‑of‑wallet opportunities.
Leverage analysis tools to grow a portfolio exceeding ROE thresholds and evaluate client returns proactively.
Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, internal controls, and compliance policies in relationship management.
Operate as a specialist resource to senior leaders and stakeholders at group/enterprise level.
Apply expertise creatively to solve unique or ambiguous situations and find solutions to complex problems.
Implement changes in response to shifting market trends.
Take measured risks while protecting the bank, applying the Risk Management Framework in line with risk appetite and policy documents.
Qualifications
10+ years of relevant experience in Relationship, Account, or Portfolio Management within a corporate or segmented banking environment with sales metrics.
Bachelor’s degree required (Business Administration, Finance, Accounting preferred).
Credit‑qualifiable roles require credit qualifications, knowledge, and skills aligned with portfolio requirements.
Advanced proficiency in Project Management, Change Management, Product Knowledge, Regulatory Compliance, Deal Structuring, Portfolio Management, Credit Risk Assessment, Customer Service, Stakeholder Management, Negotiation, and Customer Relationship Building.
Salary & Compensation
Base salary range: $122,400 – $228,000 (salaried, with potential commission structure). Total compensation may include performance‑based incentives, discretionary bonuses, and other rewards.
