Job Description
The Group Art Supervisor (GAS) manages all aspects of Art Direction on a sizeable amount of business that includes multiple brands and a team of Art Directors. They are responsible for ideation for new campaigns and innovative tactics, overseeing creative execution and identifying strategic brand solutions. The GAS partners closely with cross‑functional brand teams to ensure the integrity of the creative work is maintained. They supervise and develop the Art team, acting as a champion of the creative and providing significant support to creative leadership.

Essential Functions
Art Direction & Creative Execution
Responsible for development and creation of well‑designed materials that strategically solve the creative brief while maintaining quality control, agency process, client references, and legal requirements.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with cross‑functional team members in a productive manner to attain/maintain the creative vision outlined for the brands and agency.

Strategic Thinking
Maintains knowledge and displays deep understanding of marketing plans including objectives and strategies, and how success will be measured.

Client Management
Presents creative work regularly to internal teams and clients and leads discussions to elevate the work, leveraging intimate knowledge of data, market and brand strategy.

Talent Management
Supervises Art Directors and freelancers, evaluating work and providing constructive feedback to unlock full design potential.

Administration
Maintains a timely, detail‑oriented, and accurate approach to administrative duties for self and direct reports.

Job Duties / Responsibilities
Art Direction & Creative Execution

Stewards and contributes to Art Direction across multiple brands and indications that is strategic, compelling, distinctive and synergistic with copy.

Fully executes creative deliverables with guidance from managers and can guide more junior teammates.

Develops new, bold creative ideas for various audiences and media to support brand goals while managing day‑to‑day Art needs of the team.

Takes an active role in internal and client reviews, presenting and defending creative direction collaboratively while incorporating feedback.

Engages and manages outside Art/production vendors as necessary.

Demonstrates effectiveness consistent with job expectations across multiple projects and brands.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

Maintains and strengthens positive relationships with agency departments including Editorial, Account, Strategy and Project Management.

Communicates consistently and effectively with team members regarding deadlines, revisions, quality control and new work.

Partners closely with Copy partner and team to contribute and execute creative approaches that communicate brand personality and messages for both campaign and individual materials.

Proactively approaches leadership with new ideas and suggestions for personal career growth and team dynamics.

Strategic Thinking

Seen as the subject‑matter expert of the client’s marketplace, competition, marketing objectives and strategies.

Meaningfully and proactively creates innovative ideas appropriate to the client’s marketing strategy, brand guidelines and audience needs.

Actively participates in strategic and tactical brainstorming meetings.

Fully understands the creative brief and the role it plays in creative evolution, taking client feedback into account.

Client Management

Maintains and strengthens client relationships and trust through clear and authoritative presentations, thorough understanding of brand data, language nuance and strategic direction.

Talent Management

Communicates with all team members in a productive manner to ensure creative vision is maintained and deadlines are met.

Manages, mentors and inspires the Art team, delegating tasks and assignments as appropriate.

Responsible for hiring, staffing and full life‑cycle talent management (e.g., delivering feedback, annual reviews, general and performance management).

Administration

Ensures accurate and timely reporting of billing/timesheets for self and direct reports.

Collaborates on staffing plans, timelines and budgets with guidance from management.

Education
Required: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Visual Communications, Graphic Design, Art and Design or a related field.

Experience
Required: 6+ years in Visual Communications, Graphic Design, Art Direction and Design or a related field; 0+ years in Pharmaceutical/Healthcare advertising.

Preferred

Experience with video editing, animation, 3D program software.

Software

Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PPT, Teams) or equivalent.

Fluent in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
