Job Responsibilities
- Coordinate the efforts of all production assistants during newscasts and other live and recorded productions.
- Supervise and manage staff of news production assistants.
- Create schedules and manage crew time and assignments.
- Provide training for news production staff.
- Operate as the Technical Director for newscasts.
- Edit video content.
- Assist in upkeep of studio and production sets and properties.
- Participate in the design of video graphics, titles, music, and the creative look of shows.
- Make editorial decisions regarding the assembly of information, illustrations, and content.
- Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- BA or BS degree in Communications or Mass Communications with an emphasis on Television Production.
- At least one year of related experience (may be substituted for educational equivalency); two years of television directing experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of television production techniques and extensive experience with automation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies.
- Ability to plan work schedules, assign duties, and provide or arrange for training.
- Creative decision‑making skills.
- Proficiency in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
- Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions.
- Skill in creating, composing, and editing written materials.
- Knowledge of professional audio/video and staging techniques, facilities, and equipment.
- Knowledge of audio/video archiving procedures.
- Knowledge of professional audio and/or video editing and post‑production procedures, techniques, and standards.
- Ability to formulate broadcast programming concepts and plan, develop, and implement live and pre‑recorded television programs.
- Knowledge of television graphic design methods and techniques.
- Knowledge of television production set design principles and techniques.
- Knowledge of television programming concepts, principles, methodology, and techniques.
