Education Requirement:
Candidates must be enrolled full‑time at the University of Kentucky for the Fall 2026 semester and maintain good academic standing for the duration of employment.
Experience:
Previous experience with Windows and/or Macintosh operating systems.
Physical Requirement:
Ability to work in a sedentary position using a computer, mouse, keyboard, and phone for portions of the day.
Hours:
The Media Depot is open MTWT 10:00 AM‑10:00 PM, Friday 10:00 AM–8:00 PM, Saturday & Sunday 12:00 PM‑6:00 PM. In the temporary location, hours are MTWT 10:00 AM‑7:00 PM, Friday 10:00 AM‑5:00 PM, closed Saturday & Sunday. Work hours are flexible; shifts are 3‑5 hours long and can be scheduled around classes.
Job Summary
The Media Depot in Young Library seeks creative, tech‑savvy individuals to raise the bar on multimedia in the classroom by leading peers to success in multimedia endeavors. Your technical know‑how and instruction will assist students with programs such as Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Garageband, and more. We provide a supportive, flexible environment with the latest campus multimedia equipment, offering opportunities to cultivate skills and inspire others while getting paid.
Responsibilities
Assist students with a variety of graphic, video, and multimedia projects.
Help students become proficient with the green‑screen studio.
Handle reservations for the green‑screen studio and editing suites.
Provide support for basic computer tasks (email, word processing, printing, etc.).
Foster a welcoming, creative atmosphere.
Keep the lab spaces clean and organized.
Give tours of the Media Depot.
Assist with community initiatives such as iPad distribution events, iPad support, UK Invest support, live chat, and in‑house smart campus productions.
Complete light office work and assist staff with workshops, resource fairs, and public events.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Camtasia, or equivalent, including media management.
Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator CS 4 or above.
Understanding of common multimedia formats and export options.
Some experience with storyboarding and/or production planning.
Familiarity with online media distribution sites such as YouTube or Vimeo.
Competency with both Macintosh and Windows operating systems.
Workplace Skills:
Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
Effective written and spoken English communication.
Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
Proactive, motivated, and communicative attitude toward work‑related activities.
Preferred Experience
Experience in teaching, customer service, or technology support.
Experience with Adobe After Effects, Captivate, or Flash.
Experience with 3‑D modeling or animation software.
Experience with audio and video recording and editing, including use of cameras, microphones, and lighting equipment.
Experience with screen or webcam capture applications.
