Managing Editor – SpectrumNews

Part of Charter Communications, Spectrum News is a network of more than 30 hyper‑local news and regional sports channels dedicated to producing unbiased, high‑quality original content. Newsrooms publish via television, the Spectrum News app, and connected television, providing 24‑hour news to viewers wherever they want it.
Responsibilities

As Managing Editor, you will work directly with multimedia journalists and photojournalists to review, critique, and edit stories before they air on TV. Each week you will listen to story pitches, approve the most promising ones, and support journalists through shooting, writing, and editing. You will represent community events and national stories, creating compelling newscasts that keep audiences informed and connected.
What You’ll Bring to Spectrum News

At least 8years of experience in news or editing, with a minimum of 5years in a managerial role.
Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Management, or a related field (or comparable television management experience).
Programming knowledge and an understanding of the evolving digital media landscape.
Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to cultivate relationships and motivate co‑workers.
Willingness to travel to discover important stories within your neighborhood and engage with the community.
Ability to work a variety of shifts and adapt to schedule changes.
Physical ability to lift up to five pounds.
Preferred Qualifications

Relevant additional skills or certifications that enhance editorial or digital media capabilities.
Working Conditions

Primarily works in a climate‑controlled newsroom environment; occasional field duties may be required.
Works in an open newsroom setting with moderate ambient noise.
Benefits and Compensation

Base pay range: $98,900.00—$175,300.00, with compensation determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Eligible for performance‑based bonuses and other incentive‑based compensation.
