This role is for a director with a passion for cinematic storytelling to helm a music video inspired by New Orleans folklore. The project centers on the song “Marie Laveau” and seeks to create a visually rich, narrative-driven short film rather than a standard performance video. The ideal candidate will bring a haunting, mysterious atmosphere to life, blending elegance with supernatural elements and a storybook or narrator-driven approach. The director should be based in the New Orleans area and have a keen eye for mood, narrative clarity, and strong visual composition.

Deliverables

Develop a creative treatment and visual concept that aligns with the song’s folklore inspiration and haunting tone

Direct all aspects of the music video production, including casting, location scouting, and shot planning

Collaborate closely with the artist to ensure the narrative and visual style reflect the intended storybook and supernatural themes

Oversee the shoot on location in New Orleans, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to the project’s vision

Guide post-production, including editing and color grading, to achieve a polished, cinematic final product

Requirements

Proven experience directing cinematic music videos or short films with a strong narrative focus

Deep understanding of visual storytelling, mood creation, and folklore-inspired themes

Ability to translate abstract concepts into compelling visual narratives

Experience working with small to mid-sized budgets and managing productions efficiently

Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work closely with artists and crew

Based in or able to work on location in New Orleans

Availability for pre-production, shooting, and post-production phases within the project timeline
