Director Accounts Payable

The Accounts Payable Director will be passionate about transforming the Accounts Payable operations through automation, process optimization, and technology adoption . This role will lead the Accounts Payable function while driving initiatives that streamline workflows, improve efficiency, and modernize processes through the use of systems, automation tools, and emerging AI solutions.

Accounts Payable Director Responsibilities:

Lead and develop the Accounts Payable team, fostering a culture focused on efficiency, innovation, and continuous improvement

Oversee the end-to-end accounts payable function including invoice processing, payment runs, reconciliations, and vendor management

Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and streamline workflows to improve accuracy and efficiency

Champion the implementation and optimization of Accounts Payable systems, automation tools, and AI-enabled solutions within the accounts payable function

Drive process improvement initiatives that enhance scalability, reduce manual intervention, and improve turnaround times

Lead system upgrades, integrations, and implementation projects related to accounts payable and operations

Develop and monitor KPIs to measure process efficiency, automation impact, and team performance

Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements

Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors to support efficient operations

Support month-end and year-end financial close processes related to payables

Accounts Payable Director Requirements:

Solid experience leading Accounts Payable teams in a medium to large organization

Experience working in a high volume environment (2,000-2,500 invoices/month)

Highly systems-oriented with strong technology and automation capability

Demonstrated experience implementing Accounts Payable systems, automation tools, and workflow improvements

Hands-on experience with modern ERP platforms that incorporate automation and AI capabilities

Experience with systems such as Ramp and Bill.com

Experience driving digital transformation or automation initiatives within Accounts Payable

Familiarity with AI-enabled tools, intelligent automation, or data-driven process improvements is highly regarded

Strong analytical mindset with the ability to identify inefficiencies and implement scalable solutions

Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills

A continuous improvement mindset with a passion for modernizing Accounts Payable operations
