Position Summary
The Acting Director serves as the temporary leader of the childcare center, overseeing daily operations and ensuring a safe, nurturing, and high-quality environment for children, families, and staff. This role is responsible for maintaining compliance with licensing regulations, supporting staff, managing center operations, and ensuring continuity of services while serving in an interim leadership capacity.
Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field preferred.
Experience in a childcare leadership role, such as Assistant Director, Lead Teacher, or equivalent.
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
Current CPR/First Aid certification and all state-required trainings and clearances.
Ability to lead teams, make sound decisions, and maintain confidentiality.
Leadership & Operations
Oversee daily center operations and maintain compliance with all licensing regulations and company policies.
Support, coach, and supervise staff to ensure quality performance.
Ensure proper staffing levels and child-to-teacher ratios.
Communicate regularly with the Executive Director regarding center operations and needs.
Family & Community Relations
Maintain positive relationships with families and address concerns professionally.
Support enrollment efforts and conduct family tours as needed.
Promote effective communication between families and staff.
Program Quality & Child Safety
Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children.
Monitor classroom quality and support curriculum implementation.
Ensure incidents, accidents, and required documentation are completed accurately and timely.
Administrative Responsibilities
Assist with scheduling, payroll reporting, attendance tracking, and record keeping.
Support purchasing, inventory management, and facility maintenance needs.
Assist with enrollment, retention, and center growth initiatives.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 50 pounds, and actively participate in classroom and outdoor activities as needed.
Work is performed in a childcare center setting, both indoors and outdoors, with regular interaction with children, families, and staff.
Note:
This position is temporary and serves as an interim leadership role until further organizational decisions are made. The Acting Director is expected to maintain operational excellence and support the successful functioning of the center during the transition period.
