Job Description

Are you ready to bring the magic of the stage, screen, and live events to life? We are seeking a dynamic Director of Scenic Sales to provide strategic leadership and executive oversight of all sales, business development, and client acquisition activities within our Scenic division. In this pivotal role, you will be the driving force behind our growth, tasked with securing high-value contracts across the entertainment, live events, television/film, experiential marketing, and theater industries.
Your impact will be critical as you develop and execute target market strategies and revenue programs that align with our overarching goals. Leveraging your extensive knowledge of custom scenic fabrication and analytical insight, you will exercise significant independent judgment in managing complex accounts while fostering strong partnerships across creative, estimating, and technical production departments. By utilizing your exceptional relationship-building skills and a proven track record of leading sales teams, you will ensure operational excellence from the initial pitch to the final contract, ultimately coordinating the resources and people needed to turn visionary creative concepts into stunning physical realities.
Challenge Yourself – The Specifics:
Develops, directs, and coordinates the implementation of sales strategy, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards for the department
Strengthens existing national sales network, takes proactive steps to build positive relationships with key administrators, business, and industry leaders; routinely engages with this network through email and phone communications
Develops annual goals, strategies, and methods by which to evaluate segments' profitability and sales performance
Identifies opportunities for improvement and strategies to execute solutions within the existing business model
Assists with business development and creation of new markets/product lines
Collaborates with the Marketing department to develop a comprehensive strategic business plan for near and long-term planning cycles
Manages opportunities to meet annual sales quotas
Delivers/tracks frequent performance metrics and trends to the Sales and Executive team
Assists with the most complex, sensitive customer service issues and provides expert guidance in all aspects of order fulfillment
Represents the department to other Company departments and outside organizations; explains and interprets departmental programs, policies, and activities; responds to difficult and sensitive inquiries and complaints, and assists with negotiations, resolutions, and alternative recommendations
Attends and participates in professional group meetings; stays abreast of new trends and innovations as they relate to the area of assignment
Prepares, reviews, and presents reports, various management and information updates, and reports on special projects as assigned by executive leadership

Qualifications

You Have a Unique Combination of Skills, Talents and Mindset, Including Many of the Following:
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in business administration or a related field
Minimum of ten (10) years of proven sales leadership in lighting industry
Minimum seven (7) years of strategic and tactical management experience in planning, designing, and implementing a consumer product sales program
Knowledge of:
Administrative principles and practices, including goal setting, program development, implementation, and evaluation, and supervision of staff, either directly or through subordinate levels of supervision, budget development, contract administration, and general principles of risk management related to sales functions
Organizational and management practices as applied to the analysis and evaluation of projects, programs, policies, procedures, and operational needs
Principles and practices of successful sales strategies and relationship management
Methods and techniques for the development of presentations, business correspondence, and information distribution; research and reporting methods, techniques, and procedures
Principles and procedures of record-keeping, technical report writing, and preparation of correspondence and presentations
LED's and power supplies, lighting terminology, photometry, and applications
Modern office practices, methods, and computer equipment and applications related to the work
Techniques for effectively representing the Company in contacts with various business, professional, and industry organizations
Techniques for providing a high level of customer service by effectively dealing with the customers, suppliers, vendors, contractors, and staff
Ability to:
Develop and implement goals, objectives, policies, procedures, work standards, and internal controls for the department and assigned program areas
Provide administrative and professional leadership and direction for the department and the Company
Interpret, apply, explain, and ensure compliance with applicable Company policies and procedures
Plan, organize, direct, and coordinate the work of professional and technical personnel, delegate authority and responsibility
Select, train, motivate, and evaluate the work of staff and train staff in work procedures
Prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence, policies, procedures, and other written materials
Conduct complex research projects, evaluate alternatives, make sound recommendations, and prepare effective technical reports
Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner; organize own work, set priorities, and meet critical time deadlines
Acquire a thorough understanding of LED lighting products and communicate effectively with industry professionals
Operate modern office equipment including computer equipment and specialized software applications programs
Use English effectively to communicate in person, over the telephone, and in writing using proper grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and punctuation
Use tact, initiative, prudence, and independent judgment within general policy, procedural, and legal guidelines
Establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
Additional Information

Salary: $100,000 - $120,000 per year (DOE) plus Commission
