Overview

Cogent Biosciences is a publicly traded biotechnology company focused on developing novel precision therapies to treat a broad range of patients with unmet medical needs. Cogent’s lead program, bezuclastinib, inhibits exon 17 mutations in the KIT receptor tyrosine kinase, including KIT D816V. Exon 17 mutations are associated with Systemic Mastocytosis and, in some cases, gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST). Bezuclastinib has shown promising initial data across three trials: APEX (AdvSM), SUMMIT (NonAdvSM), and PEAK (GIST), with a favorable safety profile across 600+ patients in single-agent and combination dosing.
Position Overview

The National Account Director (NAD) is responsible for ensuring profitable coverage access with national payer organizations (GPO, PBM, Health Plans) and their largest downstream regional account clients.
Support the execution of Market Access objectives and strategy for the payer audience.
Collaborate with internal partners (Market Access, Marketing, Commercial Operations, Sales, Medical) to align approaches with our largest customers for the best patient and provider experience.
Key Responsibilities

Execute specific customer strategy aligned with overall product and organizational goals.
Demonstrate the value of products and Cogent’s offerings by managing interactions with all customer stakeholders.
Develop and implement market access strategies tailored to the payer environment to maximize access and profitability.
Lead interactions with key strategic accounts, including clinical and contracting discussions when needed.
Monitor developments among government and private insurers to support Market Access strategies and anticipate market events.
Build and maintain relationships with account senior management and decision makers.
Monitor formulary status, product access, and contract performance where applicable.
Develop account plans and participate in business reviews.
Provide payer account subject-matter expertise to support and influence broader sales and marketing strategy.
Execute a negotiation strategy tailored to the market access environment to maximize access and profitability.
Educate and coach field teams on opportunities and access challenges.
Represent Cogent at key national conferences (e.g., PCMA, AMCP, AVBCC).
Demonstrate a proactive, hands-on mentality and willingness to support others.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum of 10 years in the pharmaceutical industry with documented track record of success and first-line sales management experience preferred.
5+ years’ experience with national PBM and payer accounts with rare disease, hematology, and oncology experience preferred.
Ability to deliver clinical value-first information to key stakeholders within national accounts.
Proven track record of ensuring payer coverage and successful contract negotiation where applicable.
Ability to plan, analyze sales and payer data, and demonstrate proficiency in contracting
egotiations across all payer customers and business segments (Commercial and Medicare).
Strong business acumen with persuasive communication and presentation skills to external and internal stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize, and sound business judgment.
Salary and Benefits

$220,000 - $260,000 USD
Target Bonus: 20%
Exact compensation will vary based on skills, experience, and location.

Waltham, MA: Headquarters in the Greater Boston life sciences community with an open, collaborative office environment. On-site amenities include free parking and a gym facility.
