The Associate Character Interaction Designer (Internal Assignment/Project Hire) helps bring interactive character experiences to life by developing gestures, programming show files, and managing audio assets. Working closely with creative teams, this role creates training materials and presentations, tests interactive content, and helps ensure every experience is engaging and performs as intended. You will report to the Senior Manager – Character Design & Development. This is a temporary assignment with no guarantee of permanent placement.
What You Will Do:Participate in internal creative content and script review meetingsCapture and analyze gesture data to support gesture creationDesign and develop gesture grids and logic/bucket mappingsCreate and manage gesture XML filesProgram and test show files, including audio placement and labelingTag and organize audio files to support show programmingDevelop training programs and “Train the Trainer” materialsCreate supporting materials, including presentations, activity guides, and physicality videosProduce PowerPoint presentations for training, reviews, and stakeholder communicationConduct show file testing to ensure quality, accuracy, and functionalityRequired Qualifications & Skills:2+ years of experience in digital marketing design, product design, or training program development 3+ years of experience in live entertainment, WDI, character performing, training, or a related fieldClear, professional verbal and written communication skillsExceptional problem-solving abilities with effective negotiation skillsHighly creative and able to thrive in a fast-paced environmentComfortable working in environments that include a variety of fibers, fabrics, and fursDemonstrated flexibility to support business needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as requiredAbility to travel domestically and/or internationallyrequiredPreferred Qualifications & Skills:Hold or be able to obtain a valid passportExperience working in Smartsheet, Glover, and ICE databaseEducation:High School diploma or equivalent is requiredBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is preferredAdditional Information:Disney offers a rewards package to help you live your best life. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
