Role Description
One Southern Indiana (1si) expects this position to be accountable for creating and executing the strategy for communications, brand, public relations messaging and collateral to grow the 1si brand, OSI Foundation, and support Special Initiatives. This position serves as a key member of the Community Messaging Team and will work in conjunction with the VP of Strategic Partnerships , and other key staff members as they implement programs, events, and special initiatives.

This Marketing Manager position is responsible for writing copy (or reviewing prior to distribution) for all marketing pieces, major reports, news articles and press releases, in addition to scripting 1si’s signature events. While reporting directly to the VP of Strategic Partnerships , this position will serve to assist various team members as they prepare documents for member, investor and public consumption to ensure 1si’s message is clear, factual and consistent with the themes and direction of the organization.

Additionally, the Marketing Manager will manage all media interactions in a timely manner to position 1si as the expert in those areas in which we excel. These duties may be proactive, in the case of writing and distributing press releases, or reactive, in the case of responding to media inquiries and requests for interviews and articles.

The Marketing Manager will also increase 1si’s social media presence across multiple platforms and with a variety of creative content designed to promote our programs, events, staff, and activities, as well as our business members.

Key Responsibilities

Manage 1si’s local, regional and national media relations activities, including writing and distributing news and press releases to the media and coordinating 1si interviews, news conferences and other public briefings

Assist senior staff, including President/CEO, Sr. Vice President/Chief Economic Development Officer in preparing and writing speeches, talking points and presentations for events and programs, as needed

Design or assist in the development of all branded communication (both print & electronic) along with external communication with members, investors, stakeholders

Coordinate and design, as needed, non-dues revenue ads for the communication department

Assist with the development and implementation of marketing / communication plans for 1si events, programs and workshops

Assist with the development and implementation of the marketing and communication annual budget

Ensure 1si brand standards are maintained throughout the organization

Draft copy for and coordinate approvals by pertinent staff members for the 1si Annual Report, MMA Summit brochure, ONCE awards insert, Membership Directory, etc.

Work in conjunction with identified partners to create and distribute annual publications

Proof copy for all projects prior to print or distribution

Create and implement ongoing social media strategies, including video content creation and production

Responsible for creating social media posts to promote 1si’s activities and events, as well as for member news and highlights

Coordinate the development of maintenance and on‑going updates to the 1si we site

With guidance from the Manager of Programs & Events , responsible for drafting scripts and talking points for key presenters, sponsors, and leadership

Regularly draft articles on subjects important to small businesses for inclusion in 1si publications and distribution throughout social media platforms

Develop and maintain relationships with media representatives

Assist with grant proposals and award submissions, as needed

Attends most 1si events to assist in building and promoting member relations by collecting content, photography and videography

Other duties as assigned

Required Experience

Bachelor’s degree from four‑year college or university in Communications, Marketing, or other relevant field of study, or two (2) years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures, etc. necessary to maintain a sound operation

Two (2) years experience managing social media platforms and creating content through Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, etc.

Must be technically inclined and proficient with computers, and general office equipment associated with the tasks listed in the job description

Ability to self‑transport from office to 1si functions and possible errands

Dress for this position is business casual or business attire (unless the day’s tasks require otherwise); a clean, professional, well‑groomed appearance is expected
