Segment Producer – Katie Pavlich Tonight NewsNation is looking for a Segment Producer to work on the weekday primetime program Katie Pavlich Tonight. This role involves contributing story ideas, compiling elements, and crafting engaging live segments and packages covering political, domestic, and international news.
Responsibilities Pitch stories and segment ideas regularly.
Research topics using the internet, video archives, and other information sources.
Select strongest possible elements to help best tell stories.
Write, organize, and produce scripts and elements for show and interview segments or packages.
Assist in preparing and executing live, compelling television newscasts.
Keep Executive Producer and Senior Producer apprised of developments of stories.
Assist in the control room if needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by Executive Producer and Senior Producer or network leadership.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree in journalism or related field.
Five or more years’ experience in national or major‑market news.
Prior segment producing experience required.
Prior line producing and live control room experience is helpful.
Must exhibit strong news judgment and editorial sensibilities.
Strong broadcast newswriting skills.
Ability to create dynamic graphic and video elements.
Self‑directing, self‑motivating and able to work with a diverse group of people.
Interact well with on‑air talent, news managers, videographers, production, digital and engineering staff.
Handle stress, including short deadlines.
Work at a computer for extended periods of time.
Work assigned shifts and be on call during overnights, mornings, and weekends/holidays.
Salary $75,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience.
