The Opportunity
Adobe is redefining how generative AI fits into professional creative workflows. This role focuses on a critical part of that problem: giving creators precise, intelligible control over generative outputs, grounded in spatial (3D) knowledge and tooling.
We’re looking for a Senior Staff Designer to help design and build AI‑native tools and workflows that use spatial structure, authored inputs, and procedural control to steer generation in predictable, repeatable ways. The work sits at the intersection of generative models, 3D systems, and creator‑facing tools, and it requires someone who can operate comfortably across design, product, and engineering.
This is a hands‑on senior IC role. Success is not just ideas or concepts, but shipped workflows that creators can understand, trust, and use deliberately.
What you’ll be working on
You will help develop new tools and workflows that allow creators to guide generative systems using spatial and structural intent, not just text prompts.
Designing precision controls that meaningfully influence generative behavior.
Leveraging 3D scenes, structure, materials, cameras, and spatial relationships as inputs to AI systems.
Developing workflows that support iteration, correction, and refinement of generative outputs.
Translating emerging model capabilities into creator‑facing interactions that feel clear and usable.
Working horizontally across product orgs to integrate AI capabilities consistently across products.
Pressure‑testing ideas through working, code‑based prototypes (not just Figma) to ensure they hold up in real creative workflows.
This work spans early exploration through production‑ready execution. You’ll be expected to navigate ambiguity while still delivering concrete, usable outcomes.
Must‑haves
8+ years of experience in product, systems, or interaction design.
Experience designing complex creative tools or multi‑step workflows.
Familiarity with generative AI systems or AI‑assisted creative products.
Strong systems thinking, with the ability to design modular experiences across different product contexts.
Comfort working closely with engineering on technically complex problems.
Ability to navigate ambiguity while staying grounded in execution.
Clear communication and the ability to articulate design intent across disciplines.
Experience prototyping AI‑native workflows or interaction models.
Nice‑to‑haves
Experience with 3D tools, spatial workflows, or scene‑based systems.
Understanding of geometry, materials, lighting, cameras, or related concepts.
Experience designing tools for professional creators rather than casual use.
Exposure to incubation or zero‑to‑one product work.
Why this role matters
This role helps ensure Adobe’s generative AI tools expand creator agency instead of replacing it. By grounding generation in spatial structure and explicit control, the work here enables:
More predictable and repeatable generative outcomes.
Faster iteration with less trial‑and‑error.
Differentiated AI workflows rooted in professional creation.
Stronger trust between creators and AI systems.
