Multimedia Producer KTXL-FOX40 in Sacramento is seeking a motivated, self‑starting team player to join our newsroom in a dynamic, multi‑faceted role. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment and is eager to expand their skills across multiple areas of news operations. The ideal candidate will have experience producing television newscasts, outstanding communication and organizational skills, and a passion for local news.
In this role, you will serve as a backup newscast producer, learn to produce content for our growing CTV platform, coordinate interviews and guests as a morning show booker, and serve as a key point of contact for the public by greeting and escorting studio guests and managing incoming newsroom calls. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is adaptable, detail‑oriented, and excited to contribute to a newsroom that values teamwork, innovation, and audience engagement. We are willing to train the right candidate.
Responsibilities Produce a newscast for broadcast and our CTV app
Search wire services, network feeds, websites, and social media to find relevant material for newscasts
Write clear, concise, conversational news stories
Communicate with the web staff during breaking news
Post and update stories to station website and social media sites, engaging viewers
Research and brainstorm story ideas, present ideas in editorial meetings
Assist producers in formatting other newscasts
Essential Skills & Abilities Knowledge of newsroom and web posting software
Strong research skills, including online research using various search engines
Ability to stay current with national and local news and weather
Knowledge of engaging on social media
Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure
Work independently with little supervision
Demonstrate leadership through training and mentoring less experienced staff members
Maintain a positive work environment and work well with co‑workers
Edit video and audio on industry standard equipment
Build graphics and use them effectively in shows
Handle and adjust to last‑minute changes
Make quick, accurate decisions during the on‑air process
Compensation Hourly rate $24.00+ per hour, commensurate with experience and skill level.
