Digital News Editor, Successful Farming
This role administers many of the daily tasks of Agriculture.com, including updating the homepage, sending the newsletter, editing short videos, and posting to social media. It also involves writing original articles on breaking news and new farm equipment for Agriculture.com, and posting freelance and partner articles to the website.
Hybrid 3x a week – Des Moines
– In‑office expectations: this position is hybrid, with the ability to work remotely up to two days per week.
Key Accountabilities
Cover news for Agriculture.com, writing articles, coordinating with the news and editorial team, and reporting on new equipment launches; must react quickly and produce accurate, timely articles (30%).
Execute on news distribution: updating the homepage, posting to social media, producing social media videos, sending the daily newsletter; follow best practices and use analytics to guide day‑to‑day decisions (40%).
Coordinate posting of freelance and partner articles to Agriculture.com, editing for style and tone, optimizing for Google Discover, optionally adding multimedia such as interactive graphs, charts, and images (15%).
Travel to cover industry news events, including new product launches (15%).
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Agricultural Communications, or equivalent experience.
3+ years of writing experience.
Preferred: experience with social media and a content management system.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to follow directions with minimal supervision.
Ability to consistently follow established strategic templates and editorial guidelines.
Ability to manage multiple projects/articles simultaneously.
Agricultural interest or background.
Self‑starter.
Approx. 15% travel required.
