Director, Executive Talent

Camber Partners · New York, NY, USA ·

Pay:
150.000 - 210.000
Job type:
Full Time

Camber Partners is building a differentiated executive talent capability across its portfolio, and we are looking for a

Director, Executive Talent

to help shape it.

This is a portfolio-facing role spanning executive search, operator network development, talent intelligence, and search infrastructure. You will partner with Camber's VP of Talent and portfolio CEOs to frame and run high-quality executive searches while building the systems, relationships, and market perspective that make Camber better at executive hiring over time.

This is an opportunity for someone who loves the craft of executive search but wants a broader mandate: shaping compelling search narratives, translating business priorities into accurate scorecards, calibrating search partners, building a network of exceptional SaaS operators, and turning every search into reusable institutional intelligence.

What You'll Do
Executive Search Strategy and Execution
Partner with portfolio CEOs and hiring teams across the search lifecycle:

Translate company strategy into clear role mandates, search narratives, and scorecards

Align stakeholders around the leadership profile and success criteria

Shape search strategy, market mapping, and candidate research

Select, onboard, and calibrate external search partners

Manage search processes and synthesize candidate feedback

Support assessment, referencing, backchanneling, and close strategy

The goal is to ensure each search is well-framed, well-calibrated, and positioned for success.

Operator Network Development

Build a trusted network of high-quality SaaS executives, functional experts, future candidates, and potential advisors.

Develop relationships that Camber and its portfolio companies can draw on for talent market calibration, referrals, diligence, advisory support, and future leadership opportunities.

Executive Talent Intelligence

Build a sharper view of the executive market by function, company stage, operating model, geography, and leadership archetype.

Use research and market mapping to inform search strategy, compensation, candidate availability, closeability, and stage-fit assessment.

Search Infrastructure and Institutional Knowledge

Create systems that allow Camber to learn across searches rather than starting from scratch each time.

Capture candidate patterns, market insights, backchannel themes, close and loss data, search partner performance, leadership risks, and executives who may be relevant for future opportunities.

AI-Enabled Talent Infrastructure

Help build AI-enabled workflows for executive research, market mapping, candidate synthesis, scorecard analysis, search tracking, operator network management, and portfolio leadership visibility.

You should be excited about rethinking traditional search processes and using AI to improve speed, quality, consistency, and learning.

Internal Camber Hiring

Support senior or specialized internal Camber searches as needed.

What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will bring:

Executive search experience at the Principal, Senior Associate, or equivalent level, or in-house experience supporting executive hiring inside of a growth-stage company

Experience in B2B SaaS, growth-stage, venture-backed, private equity-backed, or portfolio environments

Strong judgment around executive quality, functional leadership, and stage fit

Experience developing role mandates, scorecards, and search strategies

Strong research, sourcing, market-mapping, and synthesis capabilities

Confidence partnering with CEOs, investors, search firms, and senior operators

High agency, low ego, and comfort moving between strategy and execution

A systems orientation and genuine interest in AI-enabled talent work

Excitement about building long-term relationships with exceptional SaaS leaders
