With a collaborative studio culture and a diverse project portfolio, the firm manages a high volume of workplace projects ranging from boutique offices to large-scale headquarters.

Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Design Director to provide both creative leadership and operational oversight for its growing interiors practice. This individual will lead a team of approximately six designers while overseeing multiple active workplace interior projects ranging from 5,000 to 50,000 RSF. The ideal candidate will be responsible for guiding design concepts, managing staffing and resource allocation, reviewing project schedules and budgets, and maintaining strong client relationships throughout project delivery. With approximately 30–40 active projects at any given time, this role requires a balance of hands‑on design leadership and effective team management.

Responsibilities

Lead design vision and creative direction across multiple workplace interior projects

Manage and mentor a team of designers

Oversee staff scheduling, workload planning, and resource allocation

Review project schedules, budgets, and deliverables

Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and project stakeholders

Collaborate with leadership to ensure successful project execution across the studio

Stay current with emerging design technologies, digital platforms, and AI-driven tools

Qualifications

Extensive experience leading commercial workplace interior projects

Proven success managing design teams and multiple concurrent projects

Strong understanding of project planning, staffing, budgeting, and scheduling

Excellent client-facing, presentation, and communication skills

Proficiency with industry-standard design software and project management platforms

Familiarity with emerging technologies and AI tools, including Programa, Claude, and similar platforms

Strong leadership, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities

Target compensation range of $165,000–$190,000
