The Senior Researcher and Writer serves as one of the company's primary authorities on the historical narratives, provenance, artistic significance, and market relevance of M.S. Rau's inventory. This role combines advanced research, scholarly analysis, luxury marketing, and strategic storytelling to create compelling content that supports sales, strengthens brand authority, educates clients, and enhances the collector experience.
Working closely with gallery leadership, sales professionals, marketing teams, and outside experts, this individual will transform complex research into engaging narratives that inspire confidence, drive acquisition decisions, and reinforce M.S. Rau's position as a global leader in the art, jewelry and object marketplace.
Your Role Will Include
- Conduct original research on fine art, antiques, jewelry, decorative arts, historical artifacts, and historical collectibles
- Investigate provenance, artist histories, historical context, exhibition history, and market significance
- Develop compelling product descriptions, essays, sales materials, and educational content that support inventory acquisitions and client engagement
- Translate scholarly research into persuasive, trustworthy storytelling for catalogs, advertising, websites, blogs, email campaigns, and media publications
- Support sales professionals with research briefs, educational materials, and client‑facing content
- Contribute to exhibitions, catalog production, webinars, video scripts, and other special projects
- Use research databases, archives, modern tools, and AI‑assisted resources responsibly while maintaining rigorous accuracy standards
- Collaborate with internal experts and outside specialists to validate research findings
- Manage complex research projects and maintain organized research records, content libraries, and institutional knowledge
- Ensure all published content reflects the highest standards of accuracy, credibility, and brand excellence
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Art History, History, Journalism, Communications, English, Marketing, or a related field
- 5+ years of professional research and writing experience or work experience in a related field
- Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, and communication skills
- Strong research, analytical, and critical‑thinking abilities
- Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, engaging narratives
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Decisiveness with the ability to prioritize effectively and avoid overworking tasks beyond their value
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital research tools
- Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Art History, Museum Studies, History, or a related field
- Experience researching fine art, antiques, jewelry, luxury goods, or historical artifacts
- Knowledge of provenance research and archival research methodologies
- Experience writing for luxury brands, galleries, museums, auction houses, or cultural institutions
- Familiarity with art market trends and collecting categories
- Experience with AI‑assisted research tools, content management systems, or Adobe Creative Suite
- Curatorial, exhibition, or museum‑related experience
Compensation, Work Schedule & Travel
- Compensation will be comprised of a very competitive salary commensurate with experience, with eligibility to earn quarterly and annual bonuses.
- Usual hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. with occasional evening related to special events, exhibitions, publication deadlines, or major projects. Rotating Saturdays required.
- Limited travel may be required between the gallery and warehouse locations and occasionally for research, exhibitions, industry events, or client‑related initiatives.
