The position collaborates closely with engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, and testing teams to ensure that designs are practical, standardized, and aligned with project requirements and customer expectations. Responsibilities

Design equipment and specifications for major mechanical components, equipment, and processes, ensuring they meet project and performance requirements.
Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to coordinate projects, support equipment standardization, and integrate product information originating from sales.
Create and detail schematic drawings and process flow drawings as required to support fabrication, assembly, and testing activities.
Provide internal technical support to fabrication, assembly, and testing departments to ensure designs are clearly understood and properly executed.
Participate in technical and sales meetings when required to evaluate project feasibility and ensure proposed solutions align with overall equipment design.
Estimate the time required to complete drawings and proactively inform management of any concerns related to project deadlines or schedule risks.
Modify drawings and update engineering change requests and engineering change notices (ECR/ECNs) as needed to reflect design changes and improvements.
Measure and sketch components accurately to support detailed design work and documentation.
Monitor the fabrication of equipment to verify that the final product matches design intent and provide feedback to improve future designs.
Complete job summary reports to document lessons learned and record potential improvements for future projects.
Essential Skills

2+ years of experience as a Mechanical Designer or in a similar mechanical design role.
2+ years of experience with 3D modeling using SolidWorks.
Experience working in a steel fabrication shop, including exposure to oil field skids, mounted equipment, mobile trailers, or fabricated frames.
Experience with power distribution or power generation equipment and structural design.
Proficiency in mechanical design principles, including equipment and component design.
Ability to produce detailed schematic drawings and process flow drawings.
Competence in using CAD tools for mechanical design and 3D modeling.
Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, and testing teams.
Ability to estimate design timelines and manage priorities to meet project deadlines.
Capability to monitor fabrication processes and interpret design intent on the shop floor.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

SolidWorks certification is a strong plus.
Experience with power generation equipment such as generators, gensets, turbines, or engines.
Hands‑on assembly or fabrication is a plus.
Experience with structural design for skids, frames, and mounted equipment.
Familiarity with engineering change processes, including ECRs and ECNs.
Ability to participate in technical and sales meetings and communicate design concepts clearly.
Interest in contributing to the development of new product lines, including electrical enclosures for large-scale data center applications.
Comfort working in a growing team environment where processes and product lines are evolving.
Work Environment

This is a full-time, Monday through Friday role with core hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The position operates primarily in an office and engineering environment, with up to approximately 40% of the time spent in the shop supporting fabrication, assembly, and testing activities. Limited travel may be required, estimated at around 20% of the time, to support projects or coordinate with other locations or stakeholders. You will work within a growing engineering team of about ten people, with plans to expand by adding additional mechanical and electrical engineers. The environment emphasizes collaboration between design, manufacturing, and testing functions, and involves working with technologies such as SolidWorks, CAD tools, steel fabrication equipment, and power generation and distribution systems. The role supports the development of new electrical enclosure product lines for large-scale data center applications, offering exposure to long-term, multi-year projects and a growth-oriented setting.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $90000.00/hr.
