Overview: We are seeking a Senior Technical Writer to create, plan, develop, write, and edit installation, operations, instructional, maintenance, and test procedures that support our products and operations.
Responsibilities:
Develops and maintains technical publications for commercial products, including business processes, procedures, policies, work instructions, and records.
Partners with engineering and other technical teams to gather information, clarify requirements, and translate complex content into manuals and web-based documentation for technical and nontechnical audiences.
Produces clear, accurate, and consistent materials that align with company documentation and quality standards.
Maintains assigned documents and records within designated document management systems.
Supports document release, issuance, and control processes to ensure accurate versioning and distribution to appropriate users.
Qualifications:
Education: Associate degree or higher in engineering, technology, technical communication, English, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.
Experience: +5 years of professional technical writing experience in a high-technology, engineering, or manufacturing environment. Experience developing and maintaining installation, operations, and maintenance documentation in partnership with engineering and maintenance teams is required.
Special Skills/Requirements:
Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and Adobe FrameMaker is required.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Excellent command of written English, including grammar, usage, and editing.
Strong keyboarding and document formatting skills.
Familiarity with engineering documentation, technical applications, and document control processes.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint); experience with Photoshop is a plus.
Experience with MasterControl or a comparable document management system is preferred.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions This position is primarily sedentary and involves extended periods of writing, reviewing documentation, and working at a computer. Must be able to work in a production environment and observe processes for documentation and process-capture purposes. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment in production areas, including safety glasses, safety shoes, and protective clothing or gloves, as needed. Ability to travel to and work at job sites up to 15% of the time.
