Interventional Technologist I
The Interventional Technologist I assists Physicians with minimally invasive, image-guided procedures to diagnose, monitor, and treat simple to complex conditions, defects, and diseases without surgery. This position is intended for those who are gaining experience in Interventional Radiology or Invasive Cardiology or for experienced Imaging professionals who wish to begin a career in this discipline.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assists Providers in performing minimally invasive, image-guided procedures including but not limited to cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, angiography, device implantation, biopsies, thrombectomy, embolization, and pain management.
- Utilizes a variety of highly specialized radiologic equipment and techniques to perform a diverse range of diagnostic, interventional, and invasive procedures in accordance with established scope of practice guidelines.
- Ensures procedures are performed safely and with the highest quality standards, maintaining a consistent focus on patient-centered care.
- Assists in preparing patients for procedures and provides comfort.
- Acts as a scrub tech while assisting Providers during procedures.
- Maintains a strict sterile field adhering to safety protocols.
- Responds to inquiries from patients and family members, providing clear information regarding diagnostic testing and expected result timelines.
- Collaborates with team members to provide exceptional patient care.
- Conducts post-testing quality reviews to confirm that all required elements are completed, documented, and align with departmental and accreditation standards.
- Transfers images and data to the appropriate electronic health system, enters technical data/findings, and prepares studies for reporting by physicians.
- Performs quality control checks, cleaning, disinfecting, and other equipment maintenance tasks per manufacturer instructions for use and other regulatory guidelines.
- Assists with quality assurance, audits, and performance improvement tasks as requested.
- Provides on-call clinical coverage outside regularly scheduled duty hours including weekdays, weekends, and holidays as assigned.
- May support academic partnerships by engaging in the teaching of students in the radiologic program.
- May serve as a departmental preceptor to provide instruction and mentorship to new or less experienced team members.
- Assists with onboarding of new team members.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Demonstrates knowledge and skill in applying principles of medical imaging, positioning of patients, and medical ethics.
- Applies core knowledge and understanding of anatomy and physiology associated with specialty imaging procedures.
- Demonstrates the ability to apply theory, practices, and techniques to perform, post-process, analyze, and annotate study data or procedure documentation.
- Applies knowledge of sterile fields consistently to ensure a safe environment for the patient.
- Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient populations served.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply HIPAA guidelines and standards is required.
- Ability to prioritize and complete clinical or non-clinical work assignments is necessary.
- Ability to multi-task and remain calm in stressful situations is essential.
- Ability to work as part of a diverse team and communicate effectively with others is vital.
- Displays consistency and dependability by reporting to work as scheduled.
- Ability to be sensitive to patients' physical and psychological needs is critical.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and work accurately with names, numbers, and codes is necessary.
