Community Relations Coordinator

Reports to: Director of Marketing
Scope: Develop and maintain relationships with members of various target market segments and audiences, as well as with the broader community.
Responsibilities:

Community Relations

Assist with constituent communications, including website updates and e‑blast development
Represent the USS Lexington Museum at community events and speaking engagements
Identify, coordinate, and participate in community outreach opportunities and events
Prepare reports and maintain records related to community relations activities and initiatives
Coordinate promotional item purchases, inventory, and VIP welcome materials
Prepare and coordinate delivery of donor thank‑you letters
Maintain the Museum’s presence on local and regional community calendars
Welcome, orient, and follow up with visiting groups and organizations.
Receive, review, process, and fulfill donation requests and maintain records
Process bulk ticket sales for groups and organizations
Social Media Strategy

Collaborate with the Graphics Artist to develop social media content
Develop social media posting schedules, monitor engagement, and respond to interactions
Create, manage, and maintain Facebook event pages for Museum programs and special events
Track engagement trends and audience feedback
Media Relations

Draft and distribute press releases, media alerts, statements, and other communications
Coordinate media opportunities involving staff, volunteers, programs, exhibits, and events
Assist with media interviews, press visits, publicity tracking, and media contact management
Capture photos and videos for marketing, advertising, social media, and promotional purposes
Member Relations

Support the development and administration of the Museum membership program
Process memberships, renewals, payments, and member communications
Maintain accurate membership records and tracking systems
Coordinate the annual Member Overnight event and other member‑exclusive experiences
Military Relations

Manage group sales for military organizations
Schedule and coordinate military ceremonies aboard the USS Lexington Museum
Provide onsite support and staffing for military ceremonies
Communicate ceremony logistics and setup requirements with Museum staff and vendors
Special Events

Support the Marketing Office with special events, programs, and projects
Assist with audio/visual needs, livestreams, and event technology requirements
Assist with sponsorship fulfillment and benefit tracking
Provide event support during occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
Additional Responsibilities

Participation in weekly all‑staff, departmental and team meetings. Assisting in all aspects of the Marketing Office under the supervision of the Director of Marketing to include Camp LEX Overnight Adventure program, group tours, education, special events and all other duties to be assigned.
Knowledge Required

Experience in customer service, excellent written communication skills and interpersonal skills, exhibits positive professionalism. Experience with content development using platforms such as Canva, Constant Contact, and WordPress. Working knowledge of audio/visual equipment, including sound boards, microphones, and projectors. General knowledge of the museum, hospitality, visitor attraction, or tourism industries. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
License/Certification Requirements

Valid Texas driver’s license and an insurable driving record. Ability to obtain Youth Protection Training Certification upon employment. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, or a related field preferred. Minimum of two years of professional experience in community relations, marketing, communications, event coordination, or a similar role.

Custodial – LSS Assistant Supervisor

Scope: To maintain a safe, healthy environment for museum staff, volunteers, and guests and preserve the history of the USS Lexington CV‑16. To support the supervisory responsibilities as outlined below.
Responsibilities

Assists the Department Supervisor with supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Participates in the recruiting process for the department, trains, motivates, schedules, reward and discipline employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Ensures fork lift and environmental certification courses are acquired and in compliance.
Establishes and monitors department procedures to assure the security of product inventory and safety is enforced among Crew members and the museum guests.
Ensure the department Crew is trained to be knowledgeable about janitorial supplies and the museum to provide a pleasant clean museum experience for the visitors.
Coordinates with the Supervisor to maximize productivity of the Crew and support departments as needed.
Maintains knowledge of available janitorial products and test new products for comparison with cost savings and quality.
Maintains Purchase Order log and acquires approvals for all Lex Ship Services (LSS) supplies.
Orders, receives, accounts for janitorial supplies usage using established museum procedures and performs physical inventory.
Priorities are to include, maintaining the approach ways, admissions, tour routes, bathrooms, meeting rooms, berthing compartments, office areas, Hanger Bays and flight deck. Evaluates special projects, preventative cleaning maintenance to keep the museum in ship shape condition.
Must adhere to a weekly schedule for normal work operations unless otherwise approved by Director of Operations and/or Executive Director.
Attends weekly safety meeting for updated safety protocol with equipment, chemicals and projects.
Provides support to other departments by assigning crew as needed relevant to Special Events set up requirements and clean up duties.
Set up caution signs for visitors when needed.
Serves as a member of the safety team and emergency response team and directs crew accordingly.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position the candidate must have a minimum of 1 year supervisor experience in leading a custodial crew in a similar venue or attraction. Must have a minimum of 2 years as a custodian or janitor. Must be able to lead by example and perform work alongside the Crew. Must be skilled in administrative duties including reading, writing, computer knowledge, and training. Must be able to work weekends and evenings as needed.
