Position Summary
Designer roles encompass the design and implementation of building systems and structures, including specialties such as fire protection, plumbing, HVAC and other mechanical disciplines.
Position Details
Supports senior designers and engineers on complex design tasks with minimal supervision, taking ownership of assigned work.
Completes calculations, drawings and specifications for small projects. Performs quality control prior to peer review submission to ensure accuracy.
Manages the full lifecycle of small project, including layout, permit procurement, field surveys, coordination, and fabrication lists.
Handles field generated questions, prepares RFI, and develops as-builts.
Applies codes, specifications, and design standards across multiple projects.
Leads field surveys and integrates findings into design solutions.
Implements design modifications and field solutions.
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required
3+ years of relevant experience in construction engineering design
Journeyman or apprentice experience preferred
NICET Level I Certification preferred for Fire Protection
Skill in performing project calculations and developing material/equipment lists with accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to estimate design hours and provide essential information to support RFIs and change orders
Ability to meet delivery deadlines, while maintaining quality under pressure
Ability to competently and accurately decipher contract drawings, calculations, and specifications
Ability to coordinate project activities effectively
Working knowledge of design software platforms including AutoSprink, AutoCad, NAVIS and REVIT
