The Opportunity

We seek an imaginative and business-savvy Designer with expertise in character licensing to join our expanding team. This position will be instrumental in bringing licensed children’s clothing collections to fruition, from initial concept to final production. The ideal candidate thrives in a team-oriented setting, grasps the licensed market landscape, and possesses a keen eye for trends, graphics, and product advancement.
What You’ll Do

Create and implement licensed children’s clothing collections across various product lines.
Translate industry trends, customer insights, and retail opportunities into engaging product ideas.
Collaborate with merchandising, sales, graphics, product development, and technical design teams throughout the product development process.
Lead seasonal design efforts while ensuring products adhere to licensing criteria and retailer expectations.
Pitch fresh ideas, color palettes, and assortment concepts to drive business expansion.
Oversee multiple projects concurrently, ensuring timely delivery of deadlines and key milestones.
Guide junior design team members and provide guidance throughout the creative journey.
Participate in fittings and work in tandem with cross-functional teams to refine product fit and construction.
Review samples, fabrics, trims, strike-offs, and color submissions to maintain design integrity.
Collaborate closely with costing and production collaborators to balance creativity with commercial feasibility.
Prepare and scrutinize technical documentation to facilitate sample development and manufacturing processes.
Procure necessary approvals at various stages of the design and development lifecycle.
What We’re Looking For

5+ years of clothing design experience, with a preference for children’s apparel background.
Prior experience working with licensed character products is a must.
Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is essential.
Ability to sketch, articulate design concepts effectively, and curate cohesive collections.
Prior experience within a dynamic retail or wholesale setting is desirable.
Thorough understanding of fashion trends, fabrics, construction techniques, and consumer preferences.
Excellent organizational abilities with capacity to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
Strong communication and collaboration skills across diverse teams.
Candidates based in NYC are preferred; relocation possibility for qualified applicants as this role requires onsite presence.
