JOB TITLE: Padder

DEPARTMENT: Wood Shop

FLSA STATUS: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

SUMMARY:

The Padder is responsible for applying foam and soft padding to wood frames using water-based adhesives, staple guns, and various hand tools. Reporting to the Wood Shop Supervisor or Assistant Supervisor, this role plays a key part in the upholstery preparation process and requires consistent attention to detail in a production environment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Receive frames from the framing department.
Apply foam and padding to ensure complete coverage of each frame.
Operate hand tools, staple guns, nail guns, and spray guns as required.
Identify and report any rejected or defective parts.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Skilled in using hand and power tools, including staple, nail, and spray guns.
Ability to work independently and adapt to changing production schedules.
Collaborative mindset for cross-departmental teamwork.
Strong attention to detail and quality.
Comfortable working in varying temperature environments.
Able to meet strict production deadlines.
Capable of lifting at least 30 lbs.
Must follow all safety protocols and use required PPE.
EFFORT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Continuous standing for up to 8 hours per shift.
Frequent lifting, turning, bending, pushing, leaning, and twisting throughout the shift.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

At least six months of production experience.
Ability to read and interpret diagrams and technical drawings.
