Penguin Young Readers is seeking a Manager to join their Marketing team. Reporting to the Director, YA Marketing, this role sits within the Young Adult & Adult Crossover marketing group and offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with editors, publishers, sales colleagues, and the broader Penguin Young Readers team, as well as a roster of renowned and bestselling authors including John Green, Sabaa Tahir, Ransom Riggs, Melissa de la Cruz, Marissa Meyer, and Ali Hazelwood.
The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic and strategic marketer with experience developing and executing title campaigns from concept through launch in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This person reads widely, brings excellent communication and copywriting skills, and is comfortable presenting plans and recommendations in meetings. Experience with event planning for consumer festivals and conventions as well as social media content production/planning are also preferred.
Specific responsibilities include:
Develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns for key frontlist young adult and adult crossover titles, spanning retailer promotions, advertising, social media, and consumer festivals and conventions.
Manage content development and production for retail and consumer collateral that supports key title campaigns, including advertising units, displays, promotional items, digital assets for booksellers, and partnership materials. This includes writing copy and partnering closely with Creative Services on execution.
Partner with the rest of the YA & Adult Crossover team on consumer festival and convention strategy, working with internal and external stakeholders to secure sponsorships, brainstorm creative activations, coordinate the creation and shipping of materials, and staff events as needed. This role includes travel to locations outside of New York City.
Partner and collaborate on social media content for Penguin Teen and Berkley XO channels
Collaborate directly with editorial, publicity, sales, creative services, authors, and agents to communicate, refine, and execute marketing plans.
Work closely with colleagues across marketing and publicity to share ideas, brainstorm opportunities, and develop new marketing tools and strategies.
Prepare marketing presentations, campaign documents, and related materials.
Manage seasonal sales schedules, campaign timelines, and key deadlines.
Qualifications:
At least four years of marketing experience, with a focus on creating and executing integrated campaigns; book publishing experience strongly preferred
A genuine interest in young adult and new adult books, authors, readers, and marketplace trends
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong presentation skills
Fluency in core marketing channels and tools, including email, social media, and advertising
Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple projects, and prioritize effectively
Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new applications and systems
Comfortable being featured in social media content
The salary for this position is $77,500.00. All positions are currently eligible for an annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results. This is a hybrid position with in-office responsibilities.
