About the Position:

Whistleblower Aid is seeking a motivated communications associate to manage the organization’s social media and provide support in carrying out the overall communications strategy. The communications associate will assist the Communications Director in implementing Whistleblower Aid’s media strategy, public-facing communications and oversee social media strategy. The role will focus on promoting the organization’s work and our clients’ impact on public policy. Whistleblower Aid’s work is highly sensitive and this position requires absolute discretion and professionalism.
Hybrid position, with minimum two days in our Washington, DC office per week. This is a full time employee position.
Responsibilities:

Manage Whistleblower Aid’s social media accounts, including content creation and regular posting
Quickly draft social media content in rapid response situations
Develop innovative and creative strategies for building social media engagement
Assist in creating/maintaining a content calendar
Assist in the drafting and sending of news releases and other content creation
Perform basic website updates, including posting news releases and links to news articles
Assist in monitoring press inbox and coordinating / scheduling client press inquiries
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

A passion for justice, a resilient democracy, and corporate accountability
2-4 years of professional experience; prior work with non-profit organizations, political campaigns, and / or elected officials
Excellent writing skills, with the ability to translate policy and legal subject matter into compelling and accessible content to drive engagement
Demonstrated experience in generating engagement on social media platforms
Graphic design experience using Canva or similar apps
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to multitask, take initiative, work independently and meet deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced small team environment
Superior organizational skills with high attention to detail
Knowledge of Hootsuite and WordPress a plus
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
