Job Description
Supervises the Strategic Communications Division staff and coordinates projects, resources, and activities to ensure efficient operation of the assigned division. Work is performed under the supervision of the Deputy Director. This position does supervise.
Duties and Responsibilities
Performs a variety of maintenance tasks to include but not limited to installing, repairing, and replacing drywall, frames, doors, windows, masonry, cabinetry, countertops, fencing, audio and video equipment, flooring, and carpentry. Follows safety policies and procedures in accordance with federal, state, local and City of Tucson requirements.
Appraises projects, provides project estimates, and orders materials in collaboration with approved contractors and vendors. Reviews project instructions, plans, and sketches as needed for full understanding of project requirements. Conducts site visits and adheres to scheduling timelines and deadlines.
Places orders and purchases materials for replacements and repairs of assets of assigned projects. Notes repairs, vendor quotes and assessments related to project job scope along with pictures and other supporting documents. Reconciles procurement card invoice purchases, enters labor charges, and other related data in multiple Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. Responds to inquiries via phone calls, emails and in-person site visits concerning maintenance tasks and projects.
Attends City of Tucson, safety, department and unit meetings, and other required training related to the safe use of tools and equipment. Optimizes productivity by maintaining the cleanliness of the interior and exterior of assigned vehicles, keeps workspaces organized, and inspects the condition of tool inventory.
Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.
Working Conditions
Work schedule may include early mornings nights, weekends, and holidays requires on call shifts.
Often works under the following conditions: Some exposure to light physical or environmental conditions (noise, dust, weather, etc.).
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree
Experience: Five (5) years of relevant experience
Equivalency: Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, public administration, marketing, transportation planning, or a related field.
