KENS 5, the TEGNA CBS station in San Antonio is looking for a highly skilled, creative Photojournalist to join our award-winning team. We’re seeking someone who can create shareable and exciting content for television, social media, and mobile and who can tell great stories on their own or with a team. Our ideal candidates are familiar with the latest photography/editing tools and techniques, are proficient with live newsgathering, and can participate in live performance on-air and live streaming when necessary.
Responsibilities

Passion for capturing video and audio elements in a unique way that produces engaging news, sports, features and other stories in a daily deadline environment.
Operate IP video-based live units (TVU) when assigned. Satellite and microwave live truck experience is a plus.
Be assigned to either work in a team or solo for daily news assignments.
Attend editorial meetings, participate in discussions, and suggest story ideas.
Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media (viewer pictures, webcam interviews, etc.) to enhance stories.
Attention to detail in all aspects of the job, both in your own work and when dealing with material gathered by others.
Requirements:

BA/BS in journalism, communications or related field preferred or equivalent years of experience.
1-3 years of experience preferred in a newsroom environment. This is not an entry-level position.
Experience in photojournalism, editing, and content management systems.
Must be flexible with schedule, reliable, and dependable.
Proven ability to generate creative, engaging, content-driven live shots.
Member and active participant in the NPPA is a plus.
Demonstrated news judgment, photography experience, and non-linear editing skills.? Writing skills are a plus.
Understanding of the tenets of professional journalism.
Knowledge of ADOBE PREMIERE, or other nonlinear editing systems.
Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time pressure deadlines.
Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events.
Able to lift up to 40-50 lbs. with or without an accommodation.
Current driver’s license and ability to operate news gathering vehicle to and from various locations.
