Role Description The American Concrete Institute (ACI) seeks a motivated and energetic Managing Director, Communications and Marketing (MDCM). The MDCM is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing all ACI communications and marketing strategies, plans, programs, and branding initiatives. The Managing Director title within ACI is the equivalent of a Vice President level. The position reports directly to the Executive Vice President, (EVP) who is ACI’s chief executive officer, and manages the communications and marketing team. This position is in-person and based at ACI headquarters in Farmington Hills, MI (Detroit metropolitan area).
The Managing Director, Communications & Marketing oversees the development and execution of integrated communications and marketing strategies that support ACI’s mission, brand, and global reach. Day-to-day responsibilities include leading strategic marketing planning, guiding messaging and content across digital and print channels, and ensuring consistent brand positioning for programs, products, and services. The Managing Director manages a multidisciplinary team, coordinates with internal stakeholders and external partners, and uses data-driven insights to optimize campaigns and member engagement. The role also involves budget oversight, performance reporting, and continuous improvement of communications and marketing practices to enhance visibility and growth.
Qualifications
-10+ years’ experience in communications, marketing, and/or public relations.
-5+ years’ experience with leadership oversight of a communications and marketing department.
-Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or public relations. (Master’s preferred.)
-Demonstrated experience in designing and executing communications, marketing, and public relations plans, programs, and activities.
-Understanding communications trends, methods, and technologies.
-Strong knowledge of MS Office applications, SEO, web, and marketing analytics.
-Additional certifications or licenses may be helpful for this position, such as a Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation.
