Brand Communications Strategist

Red Dot Branding + Marketing · West Des Moines, IA, USA ·

Job type:
Full Time

Red Dot is looking for a Brand Communications Strategist who understands that a brand is not only a logo, campaign, or set of visual standards. A brand is the full experience a company creates; what it says, how it says it, what others say about it, and whether every interaction supports the promise it has made.

In this role, you will turn brand strategy and business priorities into clear narratives, messaging systems, public relations, and content strategies. You will help clients determine what they should say, where they should show up and how they can communicate with consistency, relevance and credibility across earned, owned and social channels.

You will lead communications planning and execution, which includes writing, editing, pitching, shaping stories, and collaborating with Red Dot's brand, account, creative and digital specialists to bring the work to life.

We're a full-service marketing agency that helps organizations solve real business problems - not just marketing ones.

What You'll Do
Build Brand Communications Strategy

Translate brand positioning, audience insight, and business goals into integrated communications strategies and clear priorities.

Develop brand narratives, messaging frameworks, key messages, proof points, and communication guidelines that create consistency across channels.

Advise clients on what to communicate, when to communicate, and which channels or voices are best suited to the moment.

Help ensure that websites, campaigns, sales materials, executive communications, public relations, social media, and content reinforce one cohesive brand.

Lead Public Relations, Reputation & Thought Leadership

Develop and execute public relations strategies aligned with each client’s brand, business priorities, and measurable objectives.

Identify stories worth telling and lead targeted media outreach across trade, local, regional, and national outlets.

Guide executive visibility and thought leadership through articles, speaking opportunities, awards, interviews, and executive social content.

Evaluate events, sponsorships, partnerships, and community opportunities based on strategic fit and brand value, not visibility alone.

Create Content Systems That Bring the Brand to Life

Turn audience needs, search opportunity, brand strategy, and business goals into useful, differentiated content strategies.

Lead content planning across websites, articles, case studies, email, campaigns, video, podcasts, social media, sales enablement, and other owned channels.

Write and edit high-visibility content while protecting each client’s distinct voice, standards, and strategic intent.

Partner with digital team members to improve discoverability, usefulness, conversion pathways, and long-term content performance.

Measure What Matters

Use media monitoring, web analytics, search data, social analytics, and qualitative feedback to evaluate performance and improve recommendations.

Present results as a clear story: what happened, why it matters, what was learned, and what should happen next.
