COLORADO PRODUCER / LINE PRODUCER

Stage32 · Brooklyn, NY, USA ·

Pay:
25.000 - 45.000
Job type:
Full Time

An independent production company is seeking an experienced, highly resourceful

Colorado-based Producer / Line Producer

to take a lead production role on NOT A CREATURE WAS STIRRING, a 16–20 minute horror/comedy short film planned for production in Colorado; with primary photography taking place at a rural location TBD somewhere along the front range.

The project is a darkly comic Christmas-season story set primarily at a distressed roadside motel, combining character-driven comedy, atmospheric horror, practical effects and a decidedly unusual antagonist. The screenplay has received multiple awards and recognitions, and the completed film is intended for an ambitious genre and film-festival campaign.

A crowdfunding campaign is in pre-launch phase (see: https:/
otacreature-film.com ) to finance bulk of production. Actual 30-day campaign (https://www.kickstarter.com/pr... ) launches October 13th. Significant development and initial pre-production has begun. Principal photography is anticipated to consist of approximately

three shooting days in January, 2027 .

THE ROLE
We are looking for considerably more than someone who can carry a producer credit.

The ideal candidate is a

hands-on Colorado filmmaker who knows how to get an independent movie made —someone with established relationships throughout the Denver/Front Range production community who knows the people, vendors, locations and resources capable of helping a modestly budgeted production achieve results that look considerably more expensive than they are.

Working closely with the Writer/Director and production company, the Producer will help manage the project from pre-production through principal photography and production wrap.

Responsibilities are expected to include:

Developing and managing the production plan and working budget

Helping establish a realistic production schedule

Recruiting and negotiating with key Colorado crew

Identifying appropriate local equipment, camera, lighting and grip resources

Assisting with Colorado location identification, negotiation and permitting

Coordinating local vendors and production services

Helping secure practical production resources through established industry relationships

Coordinating cast/crew logistics, transportation, lodging and catering

Overseeing production paperwork, releases, agreements and insurance requirements

Working with the Director and DP to balance creative ambitions against budget and schedule

Troubleshooting the inevitable challenges that accompany independent filmmaking

Helping ensure the production remains organized, professional, safe, on schedule and on budget

Depending upon the candidate's background, some responsibilities may be delegated to a Production Manager, Coordinator, 1st AD or other crew members.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Knowledge of the Colorado filmmaking community is essential.

The strongest candidate will already have meaningful professional relationships with crew members, equipment providers, location contacts, production services and other filmmaking resources throughout the

Denver / Front Range region and greater Colorado production community .

We are particularly interested in someone who has:

Previous Producer, Line Producer, UPM or Production Manager experience on independent narrative films

Demonstrable experience taking productions from pre-production through wrap

Strong knowledge of Colorado crew and production resources

Experience creating and managing independent-film budgets

Experience negotiating crew, equipment, locations and production services

Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

A reputation for honesty, reliability and professionalism

The ability to maintain good relationships while still protecting the production's budget and schedule

References and verifiable production credits

Experience with

horror, comedy, genre films, practical effects and/or festival-oriented independent films

is particularly welcome.

JUST AS IMPORTANT...
This is a

small independent film , not a studio production.

We therefore need someone who understands that producing at this level requires ingenuity, relationships and flexibility—not simply writing checks.

The right producer will enjoy figuring out how to obtain a $100,000 result for considerably less by knowing

who to call, what can be negotiated, what can be borrowed, where money actually needs to be spent, and where it doesn't.

We're looking for someone who can be simultaneously pragmatic and enthusiastic: a producer who understands the limitations of independent filmmaking but becomes energized by finding creative ways around them.

Personality and chemistry matter.

The production will be small enough that everyone involved will work closely together. We want someone who is

personable, straightforward, collaborative, calm under pressure and genuinely enthusiastic about helping make an unusual and memorable little film.

A sense of humor won't hurt.

COMPENSATION
Paid position.

This is a modestly budgeted independent short, so compensation must be appropriate to the scale of the production. We are nevertheless looking for an experienced professional and have budgeted accordingly.

We welcome applicants to provide their customary rate or proposed fee structure. For an exceptional candidate who genuinely connects with the project, we are open to discussing a compensation arrangement that works fairly for both parties.

LOCATION
Applicants should preferably be based in the

Denver metropolitan area, Colorado Front Range, or within practical working distance of the production.

This position requires meaningful familiarity with the Colorado production community. Applicants without significant Colorado filmmaking experience are unlikely to be a good fit.
