Contributing Writer, Storybank

Managing the editorial pipeline for the Young Lawmakers' Storybank, the part-time contract Contributing Writer will research, report, and write narrative articles about young legislators, conducting interviews and delivering approximately 12-13 articles over a six-month period while working remotely and being available during core hours.
Key responsibilities

Research, report, write, and edit narrative articles on a biweekly publication schedule
Identify and pitch story leads by reviewing content and monitoring news coverage and legislative activity
Conduct interviews with young state and federal lawmakers from both parties and manage the article production cycle

Required qualifications

3+ years of professional experience in features, narrative, or storytelling-driven writing
Demonstrated experience conducting interviews for published work, particularly with elected officials
A portfolio showcasing published articles or narrative-driven stories
Strong command of AP style and ability to write cleanly and consistently
Deep interest in and working knowledge of U.S. politics at the state and federal level
