Melloday is a Better Missy brand based in Los Angeles, California. We have been in the women's apparel business for 20+ years. Our specialty is in Dresses, Knit/Woven Tops, Bottoms, Jackets, Sets. We cater to retailers such as Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, TJ MAXX, Macy's Backstage, Marshalls, Bloomingdale's Outlet, Versona, Von Maur.
We are seeking an experienced Creative Director to lead the creative direction and day-to-day design operations of our women's apparel line. This role requires a strong combination of design vision, technical apparel knowledge, commercial awareness, and leadership, with the ability to guide product from concept through development and production.
Responsibilities

Lead the overall creative direction and design development of the women’s apparel line
Oversee seasonal concepts, color palettes, prints, fabrics, silhouettes, and key product direction
Work closely with the Design, Sales, Production, and Technical teams to ensure product is aligned with customer needs and company objectives
Review and guide product development from initial concept through final sample and production
Handle fit reviews and provide clear comments and direction through sample submission and approval
Communicate and follow up on requests and feedback from the Sales team
Provide creative solutions in response to buyer requests, market needs, and product development opportunities
Review costing and work with Production and sourcing teams to achieve target pricing while maintaining design integrity
Troubleshoot production, construction, fabric, fit, and costing challenges throughout the development process
Maintain awareness of current and emerging trends, market shifts, competitive brands, fabrics, and consumer preferences
Provide direction and feedback to the design team while ensuring consistency across the collection
Prioritize multiple projects and seasonal deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Collaborate with overseas offices, factories, and vendors throughout development and production
Travel internationally as needed for product development, sourcing, and production
Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership role within a women’s apparel company
Proven experience leading the creative and/or design operations of a women’s apparel line
Strong sense of design, color, trend, fabrication, and commercial product development
Strong understanding of women’s apparel fit, garment construction, and product development
Ability to review fit samples and provide clear, actionable fit and development comments
Experience working closely with Sales teams and responding to buyer and customer requests
Strong knowledge of apparel costing, sourcing, and production problem-solving
Proactive, highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet tight deadlines
Strong communication, leadership, and follow-up skills
Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel
Must be flexible and available for international travel as needed
