Job Description:

The School of Art and Design seeks a tenure-track full-time faculty member in the Fashion Design Art Area. The successful candidate will be an experienced fashion design professional with demonstrated leadership in pioneering AI-driven approaches to fashion design, leveraging emerging technologies to advance creative practice, product development, and design communication. The candidate will possess expertise in applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance creativity, concept development, design research, visual communication, and digital product development while maintaining strong design authorship and critical thinking. The candidate should demonstrate a strong commitment to fashion design education and possess expertise in AI-enhanced design workflows, generative technologies, digital product validation, and contemporary digital design practices while being proficient in creating original fashion illustrations and developing cohesive design collections. The successful candidate should be able to integrate AI into the curriculum using innovative instructional methods that foster creativity, critical thinking, ethical decision-making, and responsible innovation. Additional qualifications include knowledge of the global fashion industry, including sourcing, production, supply chain innovation, entrepreneurship, and international fashion markets. The candidate should understand the impact of AI across the fashion industry and possess a strong understanding of AI ethics, intellectual property considerations, and the responsible use of generative technologies. Responsibilities include teaching courses in the AAS and BFA Fashion Design programs using innovative, student-centered instructional methods. The successful candidate will teach in one or more specialization areas, including Sportswear, Special Occasion, Knitwear, Childrenswear, or Intimate Apparel. This position is also expected to provide leadership in the strategic integration of Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies throughout the Fashion Design curriculum. The faculty member is expected to contribute to the Fashion Design Program through curriculum development, course coordination, faculty mentorship, committee service, and other academic initiatives. Beyond classroom instruction, the faculty member will contribute to the Department, School, and College through participation in administrative responsibilities, shared governance, and institutional service. The successful candidate will also pursue creative and scholarly activities that advance the discipline of fashion design through research, creative practice, curriculum innovation, and industry engagement. By the time of tenure, the selected candidate is expected to establish and demonstrate sustained professional achievement in one or more areas of expertise. Evidence of achievement may include AI-focused research, curriculum innovation, grant-funded initiatives, industry partnerships, sustainability, inclusive design, fashion exhibitions, publications, digital workflow development, or other scholarly and creative activities that advance the discipline.
