Founding hire. You build the function.
Singh Capital Partners is a multi-strategy private investment firm based in Washington DC. We invest across venture capital, private equity, real estate, and public markets, and are LPs in some of the world’s top funds. Our portfolio spans defense, AI, energy, and space — sectors central to American dynamism and long-term global competitiveness.
The role
Writing is a deliberate instrument of how this firm operates. We use it to build relationships, shape narratives, announce investments, and establish the firm’s point of view. This role is responsible for all of it — the written output of the firm, the message discipline that protects it, and the media relationships that carry its voice into the world. The right candidate has ghostwritten for people who matter, controlled a message under pressure, and placed stories in rooms that are hard to get into. You will own every function below and build the team around you over time.
What you’ll do
Editorial & Ghostwriting
Own the written output of the firm — essays, op-eds, investment theses, announcements, and press releases
Ghostwrite long‑form thought leadership for firm leadership across investment, technology, defense, and policy
Develop and sustain a consistent written voice across all external‑facing content
Message Discipline & Press
Own the firm’s messaging architecture across every context — how the firm describes itself, its portfolio, and its point of view
Prepare firm leadership for media appearances and public statements with the rigor of a press briefing
Manage rapid response — draft statements and hold positions when speed and precision both matter
Serve as the firm’s primary spokesperson when appropriate
Media Relations
Cultivate deep relationships with editors, journalists, and producers at WSJ, FT, Bloomberg, Forbes, Fortune, and equivalent outlets
Secure features, profiles, and coverage for firm leadership and portfolio companies — not pitching, placing
Position firm leadership as authoritative voices across financial markets, defense, AI, and energy media
Owned Channels & Portfolio
Build and manage the firm’s presence across Substack, X, LinkedIn, and newsletter — editorial calendar, cadence, and audience growth
Adapt long‑form content into social‑native formats that travel
Extend communications and editorial support to portfolio companies at critical moments — launches, fundraises, announcements
Help portfolio founders develop their written voice, message discipline, and public narrative
What you’ll bring
A body of writing that demonstrates range, voice, and the ability to make complex ideas feel inevitable
Proven experience ghostwriting for senior executives, investors, or public figures
Deep existing relationships with editors and journalists across financial markets, technology, and national media
The message discipline of a press secretary — knowing what to say, what to protect, and how to hold a line
A track record of placing features and securing coverage — not pitching, placing
Fluency in finance, technology, defense, or policy — enough to write and speak with authority
A degree from a rigorous academic institution
Background that stands out
Press secretary, communications director, or senior spokesperson at the White House, a federal agency, or a Senate or House office
Senior writer, editor, or communications lead at a top publication, investment firm, or think tank
A publishing history — essays, features, op‑eds — with a distinctive point of view
Genuine passion for American exceptionalism and the sectors shaping the next decade
Excellence outside the office: athlete, veteran, builder, performer
Compensation
Competitive base and performance bonus. Co-investment rights alongside the firm across our full portfolio — venture, private equity, real estate, and public markets.
