Role Description

The Circulation Coordinator is a full-time, on-site position located in Wausau, WI, responsible for overseeing daily circulation operations and ensuring a positive patron experience. This role manages the check-out and return of materials, supervises the handling of patron accounts, and coordinates the shelving and organization of library collections. The Circulation Coordinator trains and guides circulation staff and volunteers, supports library services at service desks, and assists patrons with account inquiries, holds, and basic reference or directional questions. The position also helps maintain circulation policies and procedures, supports technology use related to circulation systems, and collaborates with other library staff to improve workflows and patron services. Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned to best serve community members and patrons.
Qualifications

Strong circulation and library services skills, including experience with integrated library systems and routine lending operations.
Effective communication and customer service skills for interacting with patrons and colleagues in a professional, courteous manner.
Well-developed interpersonal skills to support collaboration, staff guidance, and a welcoming environment for diverse community members.
Attention to detail, organizational ability, and reliability in managing materials, records, and daily workflows.
Basic computer proficiency and comfort learning new software related to library operations.
Prior library or public service experience preferred; coursework or training in library science is a plus.
Ability to stand, move materials, and perform shelving and light physical tasks as needed.
Associate degree or equivalent required; bachelors degree or relevant certifications beneficial.
